Śrī Śrī Jagannāthāṣṭakam is an ancient Sanskrit composition written by Śrī Śaṅkar Āchārya, an incarnation of Lord Shiva who appeared on this earth from 788-820 AD. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu would chant this composition in great ecstatic joy. The Jagannāthāṣṭakam are eight verses (“āṣṭakam") glorifying Lord Jagannāth, a unique and ecstatic form of Lord Kṛṣṇa, 

mahāmbhodhes tīre kanaka-rucire nīla-śikhare
vasan prāsādāntaḥ sahaja-balabhadreṇa balinā
subhadrā-madhya-sthaḥ sakala-sura-sevāvasara-do
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana-patha-gāmī bhavatu me (3)

“Residing on the shore of the great ocean, within a large palace situated upon the crest of the brilliant, golden Nīlachala Hill, along with His powerful brother Balabhadra, and in the middle of Them His sister Subhadrā, Lord Jagannāth bestows the opportunity for devotional service upon all godly souls. May that Jagannāthā Svāmī be the object of my vision.”
