The Whiskey Sour is a classic bourbon cocktail that is subtly sour and sweet at the same time. Today’s bartender duo represents two different tastes as well, as their sets usually float over a different range of sounds. The result however, also true for the Whiskey Sour, is a mesmerizing experience based on magical mix of two different characters.  

We’re extremely happy to introduce Madota as our latest addition to the Schirmchendrink family. Behnam and Mehran, both with Iranian roots, grew up in Vancouver, Canada. The project was born into Vancouver’s electronic music scene, and over the years the duo’s signature sound consisting of melodies with a dark melancholic touch and upbeat organic sounds evolved. 

In 2017 the project “Madota” was officially born, when Behnam and Mehran moved to Berlin to bring their musical career to the next level. We think it’s going quite well as they now have their regular showcase “Pishi Circus” at Katerblau and a first release on the legendary Buddha-Bar label. And there is more to come: Madota’s first EP will be released soon on underyourskin records, another great imprint we think! 

Raise your glasses to Madota’s cocktail! It’s deep and subtle, melancholic and lively, with a sensational vibe throughout the whole set.

Hailing from Gujarat, New Delhi based Jay Pei has come to represent a mature sound within the confines of techno. His delicate production style is revelating of a minimal, liquid strain of club music - often hypnotic; inspired by some of his favourites including artists such as Mind Against, Recondite and Gardens Of God.

The latest mix by Jay Pei features a similar arrangement - artists who have been inspiring him to make music since 2013; CTF, Patrice Baumel, VII Circle and Fideles. The mix revels in dark melodies associative of his sophisticated sound. Mixed with utmost precision, the mix is a gateway to the subliminal interaction of the senses.

The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.

The full spectrum of Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label is on display here, as they continue to push the envelope with a high-quality and diverse selection of artists.

Up next on Liquid Drop Groove series is Mexican DJ, producer, and label owner, RICARDO GARDUNO.

Born and raised in Mexico, Ricardo Garduno, is no stranger to the global Techno underworld. Besides running his successful Techno imprint, Illegal Alien Records, he’s had numerous successful productions on some of the most reputable Techno labels around the world such as, Brood Audio, Sleaze Records, Driving Forces, Impact Mechanics and Machine Box just to name a few. His music can be described as a perfect blend of organic and distorted twisted Techno! The deep, hypnotic grooves and unique kick drums pull you in and destroy any dance floor that they are dropped on! Ricardo’s music is heavily played and supported by the likes of Dave Clarke, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, Dubfire and Richie Hawtin to name a few. Besides his successful Techno moniker, Ricardo has a second alias as “Xordo”, which explores the more experimental Minimal/Tech House genres. The biggest accomplishment of this project so far was last year as he released his first EP on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC label. He is also part of the duo Pitchverb with Andre Ramos.

Bolygó Records hits release number four with another fantastic offering entailing a blend of techno/electronica tunes. This time Adwer is the producer behind the beats and he is a Hungarian born but Barcelona based producer who is busy building catalogue for his own imprint. He plays live with a range of proper hardware tools and brings that same innovation to his music.

Sierra Sierra 1.5.3.0 is the tense and cosmic opener which voyages to the edge of the galaxy with sci-fi synths, deriving drums and real cinematic style. The brilliant Alfa Whiskey Tango is a dark and deep bit of dub techno with spacey atmospheres in the drawn out pads and real texture in the sewed synths. It's heady as well as physical and then Sierra Sunrise gets much more melodic and dreamy with its thoughtful pads, supple rubber drums and intergalactic energy. 

An excellent Alisa Hypno dub of Sierra Sierra strips it back to super supple minimal techno with spoken word vocals bringing the feeling that you’re on a spaceship flying through the universe. 

All in all an excellent EP of storytelling house and techno.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

This new Intec release is from Many Reasons, which is the techno alias of Italian duo Angelo Manicone and Michele Colombo, who had previously been known under the names of MiniCoolBoyz.

Under their various aliases they have featured music on a huge range of labels including Phobiq, Break New Soil, Minus, 100%% Pure, Terminal M, Octopus Black, and their own Amazing Records.

Since their first release in 2008, the pair have been one of Italys most prominent techno acts, and have played all over the world including clubs like Watergate in Berlin, plus festivals like Balaton Sound in Hungary.

Many Reasons last release on Intec in September 2017 picked up support from the likes of Ambivalent, Alan Fitzpatrick, Wehbba plus Lee Van Dowski, and their much anticipated follow up brings stylish techno with a delicate sound design.

First up is Obsessed and its namesake vocals, which sits over the stripped back groove consisting of mechanical hi-hats and rippling synths. The track has a very intimate vibe with whispered textures, but its full bodied sound more than fills the speakers, and its pounding bottom end is a certified party starter.

The second track Rawphoria lifts it up a gear with a booming kick drum leading the slow building tension of the hypnotic background textures. The euphoric lead synth takes centre stage making this an understated and intricate cut of dancefloor focused techno with uplifting elements that complement its otherwise dark atmosphere.
