This song was first sung in 1986. First recording was supported by Her Royal Highness Ashi Chuki. There were no studios in Bhutan and the song was recorded on a tape-recorder at HRH's residence. An acoustic guitar was the only instrument in the song.

This is the first song in a series of songs that will be produced as a tribute to Thinley Gyamtsho and Tashi Gyelsthen, who gave us the popular 1980s hits and were very instrumental in the birth of Bhutanese popular "rigsar" music.

Nga gi Choelu Masong - Sonam Wangchen & Singay Wangmo

aye mo was composed by Thinley Gyamtsho in 1990-91 whilst he was in the U.K. His wife and children (4 of them) were in Bhutan and he wrote this song for his wife, recorded it on a cassette and sent it in a parcel. The cassette had message for his wife and had this song at the end of it.

Thinley Gyamtsho wrote many hits in the 1980s and early 1990s. He also wrote songs for RAPA when he was the Principal there from 1999-2007.

aye mo - Thinley Gyamtsho (1990-91)

This is that Dorozam song that Dr. Dasho Sonam Kinga mentioned in the paper on Bhutanese music. He said, "Another historical event in the development of rigsar song occurred in 1979-80, when Dasho Thinley Gyamtsho composed Dorozam and sang it at a school function." 

Later on in the mid 1980s, Thinley Gyamtsho and Tashi Gyeltshen composed the more popular "wai dorozam" which is still popular today.

He wrote this song for his wife on a cold day in December 1990 when he was in the U.K. Thinley recorded this song in his voice on a cassette tape and sent it to his wife in a parcel that was filled with gifts for her and children. Lyrics were written in collaboration with late lopen Kunzang Longdrel.

Sazambuling di na composed in 1986 by Thinley Gyamtsho. When he was a student in Simtokha Rigshung school in 1974, he watched the movie Dhund (1973)where he heard the song "sansar ki har shay ka" by Mahendra Kapoor. Later in 1986, upon the requests of his friends to write a song that did not involve women, he composed sazambuling di na based on the Mahendra Kapoor's song.

Nangi gi Norbu was composed by Thinley Gyamtsho in 1999 as a tribute to His Majesty the 4th Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck during the silver jubilee celebration of His Coronation. Thinley Gyamtsho was appointed the Principal of the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in early 1999 and he was coordinating the celebrations for the silver jubilee celebrations held on the 2 June 1999.
