EVENT HORIZON (TIGER STRIPES REMIX)

Solid Grooves co-founder Michael Bibi debuts on the label with three techy rollers including a remix from Dutch producer ONNO.

Having established itself as one of the UK’s most consistent event series, Solid Grooves has continued to prosper since forming as a record label, with early releases from the likes of Wade, Kuo Climax and co-founder PAWSA. London’s Michael Bibi, who founded the imprint alongside PAWSA, has earned his stripes as a producer over the last year, dropping recent releases on MadTech, Electronique and Lost Records.

Percussive and rhythmic, ‘Restoration’ initiates the package with rolling drums and a soft purring bassline, before ‘Excuse You’ delivers thudding kicks, metallic snares and a rumbling low-end suited for the peaktime.

‘Standing Near’ is then a bouncy production with an infectious vocal and arcane atmospherics, making for the trippiest original of the package.

Known for his releases on the likes of Truesoul, VIVa and Moon Harbour, ONNO ties up the release with a formidable remix featuring undulating percussion, dusky effects and a distorted vocal sample.

Madrid based DJ and producer Dennis Cruz delivers two dance floor focussed house cuts on Solid Grooves this October.

A mainstay in the house and techno community, Dennis Cruz has consistently delivered high quality material on Stereo Productions, Snatch! and Suara to name but a few, garnering support from the likes of Marco Carola, Jamie Jones and Nic Fanciulli. This reputation has earned him a number of awards, including winning Best Producer in this year's DJ Awards, not to mention nominations for Best Spanish Artist, Best Producer and Best DJ from Vicious in 2016. Dennis Cruz' success in the industry continues this October with a busy touring schedule, featuring multiple performances at this year's ADE, as well as his return to Solid Grooves Records with 'Rock & Roll EP'.

'Rock & Roll' opens the release with a rumbling low end and grooved drum loops, allowing exciting snare rolls to build towards an inspiring vocal and hypnotic mid-range motifs before 'Get Ready' uses a vocal with more musicality which interacts the melodic bass hook, rising synth rhythms and shimmering hi hats to close out the release smoothly.

Barcelona’s Bassel Darwish drops two thumping tracks on Solid Grooves Records to conclude a pivotal year for the label. Having released on labels like Lemon-aid, NoExcuse, Natura Viva and Natural Rhythm, the Spanish producer has undoubtedly earned his stripes as a producer – a fact further enforced by regular support from Marco Carola, Stefano Noferini, wAFF and PAWSA. He now joins Solid Grooves Records, Michael Bibi and PAWSA’s thriving imprint that’s seen a landmark year with releases from Dennis Cruz, Leftwing & Kody, ANOTR and Brett Gould. With catchy lyrics and sharp snares, ‘Bust & Shake’ is an archetypal Solid Grooves cut complete with energetic percussion and a rolling bassline. Meanwhile, ‘Let’s Go’ serves up a compelling groove with echoing drums, soulful vocals and a sultry low-end.

The Hungarian based in Barcelona Reelow returns to the label with another great EP plenty of powerful grooves, smart samplings and tools for the dancefloor. 'Naughty Man EP' is the proof of all the great tracks he has released in last months (on labels like Solid Grooves, Moan, Rawthentic, CUFF.) did not come about by chance.

The lead track is about a groovy bassline, some housy elements and a old-school vocal sample, the right stuff to make the people dance. In 'Jibara', Reelow sampled some latin folk music and delivered something funny but underground, easy to play in any Dj-set but still cool. Last but not least we can find 'The Juicy One', where the main element is an arpreggiated bassline and some great breakdowns. In short, 3 different options in an great EP.

Next up this winter on Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records imprint is UK DJ & producer, Ki Creighton, with his debut 'Inhale' EP. Ki is no stranger to the House circuit, on the scene since 1991 and now majorly influencing matters both north and south of the border. With releases on respected labels including Elrow, Snatch, Circus, 8bit, Toolroom Trax and of course his own label, Under No Illusion, this talented DJ / producer is showing no signs of slowing down. The 'Inhale' EP showcases Ki's signature sound; percolating rhythms, crisp and energetic percussion, playful rise and fall basslines, hip swinging claps and vocal chants that ebb and flow throughout the compositions.
