νέα γη
που δεν πήρε απ’ την μάνα 
κι όσο για πατέρα
σίγουρα δεν έχει 
με κανέναν δεν θα μοιάζει
δεμένη με τον κόσμο
μα κι ελεύθερη 

νέα γη, ακούραστη
αμόλυντη 
από ρύπους φθονερούς
να σπείρεις πάνω, να θερίσεις 
να την ποτίσεις

Καλό ταξίδι, αλαργινό καράβι μου, στου απείρου
και στης νυχτός την αγκαλιά, με τα χρυσά σου φώτα!
Να 'μουν στην πλώρη σου ήθελα, για να κοιτάζω γύρου
σε λιτανεία να περνούν τα ονείρατα τα πρώτα.

Η τρικυμία στο πέλαγος και στη ζωή να παύει,
μακριά μαζί σου φεύγοντας πέτρα να ρίχνω πίσω,
να μου λικνίζεις την αιώνια θλίψη μου, καράβι,
δίχως να ξέρω που με πας και δίχως να γυρίσω!

nell’infinito abbraccio della notte,
splendi con le tue luci d’oro!
Ah, potessi essere alla tua prua,

First recording on the Limourata Sounds playlist, an antidote to societal noise. Easter Sunday, goat bells right below our avlí (terrace), eating grasses and figs, as the sun rises above the Mármakas peninsula. Rokku and Pablito witness this almost every morning, but always watch as if the first time.



1 - Goats at sunrise

Path blocked by goats on our way back from Easter Sunday family lunch. Rokku softly directs them into the forest, and we continue our way home to find Pablito waiting for us (and for a bag full of katsíki bones).

2 - Traffic jam

Chilling on the swing with Don Pablo and Rokku. Two distant owls converse in the valley. A few goat bells on the path above the house. The slow-burning joy of silence.

3 - The quietude after Pablito’s party

4 - Reading with Pablito by the stófa

Early morning softness as the mountain and valley awake.

5 - Cuccurrucuccù e caffè

A very light breeze. A nearby owl converses with a distant owl. The surf of Afáles Bay barely audible in the background. Isihía. Paċi. 


6 - Midnight calm

Where you going on your little motorbike, pejx? Afáles? Kioni? Marathiás? Ħħħrrrrr

7 - Pablito’s motorbike, 3 am

Birds and bells in the peace after the storm.

8 - The orange sound of sunset

Finally a little water for our sterna, as a storm approaches. 

9 - Rain on vine leaves

10 - North Itháki quietly awakes

11 - Ultima alba di primavera
