I wrote this ballad in a story-telling manner wherein "I" tell a story about this guy, alongside the "song" I virtually wrote for him that described feelings and relationship, of "why I wrote this love song" and the message I want to send. It's like, "a song in a song." The quotation marks in the lyrics show the song "i wrote" while the entirety of the lyrics convey the story (if you try to read the lyrics without singing it, it's like someone's telling a story while singing the song she wrote, and she eventually ends up disclosing the story explaining why she hasn't said those things to him).
