This is an improvised song, made using samples collected from lots of different musical traditions, Eastern drums, gritty recordings of trap sets, and random objects such as metal lamps.  This was made using several drum machines and a few found sounds loaded into samplers and played to sound like a synthesizer for melody.

3 - 15 - 2013.9 (Dubstrata)

Improvised drone where there are too many instruments, both digital and analog, to list, but it started with sampled string instruments.  All of the instruments are filtered and sampled until the original instrument nearly disappears and all that's left is an other worldly resonance and a rhythm. Some of the rhythm parts crunch and then move out from each other again.

String Drone

This is a collaboration by Kello and I during our first band practice.  I'm excited to be working with her, feels good to find a collaboration where we set each other's vision on fire.  This is Kello playing micro Korg and singing into a vocoder, while I improvise loops and load found sounds into 12 virtual drum machines.  Our end goal is to create music that feels like an incantation, helping to envision other worlds and new ways to move.  We're applying for a grant to do live shows involving projection.

Creek And Wobble

This is a soundtrack I made for Kello Goeller's art installation at Duplex, in downtown Portland, OR.  Kello created a video mandala using 5 terabytes of footage of her dancing in the Oregon rain forest.

Forest Dance Floor

This is a meditation using two drum machines, so it's a gradual build.  There's no automation, only sequencing and manually taking in and out sounds, tweaking all the drum machine knobs in the recording.  It has a very minimal beat using an old school Korg tom, some tube synths, Turkish flute, samples of crowds at fireworks shows, and a mysterious high pitched laugh I found somewhere in digital land.

The rhythmic static sound is the atmospheric recording of an Indian textile plant.  This is a rough clip from a long improvised session (aside from where the clip was taken and an ending fade).  Hope you enjoy it!

I make experimental music using virtual drum machines, found sounds and sounds from old keyboards.  I'm always interested in collaboration and working on creating soundtracks for short films and art installations.
