Returning to Meanwhile after a stellar debut remix of Roger Martinez in December 2020, Paul Deep now comes to the label with his debut EP in the shape of the four-track “Deeper Dye”.

A regular contributor to the electronic dance scene with his distinctive brand of underground house music, Paul Deep has seen his music featured on some of the finest modern imprints to grace the industry, including Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s The Sound Garden and Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream. The latter saw the sublime “Aeras” as part of “A Winter Sampler III” compilation in January 2021.

Now making his full Meanwhile debut, “Deeper Dye” opens the EP with its powerful rhythmic framework of driving kick and shaker-fuelled percussion. Syncopated synth plucks add to the aural collage as deeply textured pads provide a new steam-powered layer. A chorus of synth phrasing enriches the story at the two-thirds point as the hypnotic combination of powerful bass and dance-friendly rhythm create tension in the second half.

“Masha” continues the dynamic metrical narrative of the title track as muted musical layers filter into sonic range. Pausing for breath to introduce new arpeggiated sequences, the track builds elegantly across its 8-minute duration as each successive phrase brings another layer of intrigue before the final movement is introduced in a powerhouse of sonic seduction and compelling beauty.

Giving the listener an impression of continuity, “Nina” provides the same cadenced percussion and chest-thumping kick, while a juxtaposition of lighter synth motifs creates an uplifting moment. Evolving effortlessly, a sustained pad and beautifully held chord swell across the stereo spectrum at a resplendent and stripped back breakdown before rhythm and bass find their mark once more in the final stages.

Closing the EP, “Shura” creates a slightly lighter moment as a superbly hypnotic arpeggio meanders across the body of the near 8-minute piece, accompanied by richly textured pads and evolving melodic tapestry. Expertly pausing for breath at strategically based intervals, the track is further tied together by a reverb-laden hi-tom that sits perfectly amongst the multi-faceted and entwined synth motifs.

Exposing a vivid and multi-coloured sonic palette, Paul Deep has created a transcendent quartet of tracks through his “Deeper Dye” EP.

Following on from the summer success of 'Jailed in a Cell', Till The Sunrise welcomes Hernan Cattaneo and Jamie Stevens to remix NOIYSE PROJECT's 2022 hit 'Remember Me'. With eighteen months passed since NOIYSE PROJECT's Till The Sunrise imprint unveiled it's first release, we've yet to see any other artists other than  NOIYSE PROJECT himself on the label. This creative swell of what has primarily been single track offerings, has seen the beloved Sri Lankan rise into the #1 spot in Beatport's Best Selling Hype artists, a position which has been reserved for just a select few across the last two calendar years. With many progressive music fans wondering when or if Till The Sunrise would open it's doors to new artists on the label, NOIYSE PROJECT has done it and in the grandest fashion with Hernan Cattaneo & Jamie Stevens turning in a must have rendition of 'Remember Me'. 

Needing little introduction and simply known as the maestro, Hernan Cattaneo is one of the world’s most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat Music imprint is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. With a career that spans over three decades, Hernan Cattaneo has recorded eleven albums, thirty singles and fifty remixes, all while touring the world delighting passionate music lovers with his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills. Meanwhile, Australian artist Jamie Stevens has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his three-decade long career. As one of his country’s most talented and sought-after artists, Jamie has proven his skill in professional sound design, film scores and contemporary electronic music. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Jamie has enjoyed a creative swell in recent years, landing releases via Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and Guy J’s Lost & Found. Although both Hernan and Jamie do find themselves in collaborations with other artists on a regular basis, the legendary pair have only collaborated once prior to this, on an unofficial remix of Pink Floyd's 'Breathe', making their take on 'Remember Me' their first officially released production, and what a fine remix it is. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, Hernan and Jamie craft a sweeping sonic experience all his own, a spirited journey into an melodic hinterland, where striking chord stabs, orbiting effects and emotive melodies surface from their progressive architecture, onwards to a finale of chugging grooves and heartfelt harmonies. A poignant interpretation from the legendary duo, one which would have to be in the running for best progressive house remix of the year, and further elevates NOIYSE PROJECT's Till The Sunrise imprint to even loftier heights. From the Macedonian city of Serres in northern Greece, Simos Tagias has created a colourful musical history full of progressive house flair and melodic beauty. Returning to Meanwhile for a third original EP, the Greek artist dazzles with “Skyline / A Memory”.

Over the course of more than 400 production credits, Simos Tagias has continued to flourish, carving out a unique niche within the progressive house fraternity as his reputation and passion to his craft continue to produce a rich seam of valuable underground dance music. After a debut on Lynx Records in late 2012, Simos has gone on to feature on a plethora of high-profile imprints with a portfolio of original and remix material on the likes of Juicebox Music, Proton Music and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music.

March 2021 saw a Meanwhile debut in the shape of the twin-track “Euphoria / Emotion”, before a second original EP in February 2023 found “Archaios / Geometric” taking centre stage. Remixes for Imran Khan and Alex O’Rion have been further notable highlights as Simos Tagias now return to the GMJ & Matter led label with a third original offering and the “Skyline / A Memory” EP.

Propelled powerfully forward with an unrelenting kick and smooth percussive groove, “Skyline” immediately hypnotises with ticking hats and subtly melodious woodblock phrasing. A sub-bassline enters the fray to add cavernous dancefloor depth, while delay-infused synth sequences meander atop the rhythm section. A sublime arpeggio enters the fray at the mid-point alongside a canopy of white-noise washes and textured pads before the track erupts into its third movement with full-bodied dancefloor character. An immaculate balance of rhythm and melody transpires throughout the second half as filtered phrasing makes “Skyline” an essential club offering.

A chunky bass sequence and heavy kick provide a strong and mesmerising opening to “A Memory”. A brooding, seething club monster, refined melodic passages and intelligent chord progressions create a fizzing and emotive energy that continues to build across the 7-minute track. As new counterpoint layers are introduced, the track’s multi-faceted nature continues to delicately expose itself like newly discovered memory fragments until the whole picture is revealed at the breakdown and into a satisfying denouement. The result is yet another classy work.

Rising once more to the upper echelons of the progressive house scene, Simos Tagias flies high via his “Skyline / A Memory” EP.

For Matter, more than half a century of production credits adorn the jewel-encrusted crown that sits atop the Meanwhile and Meanwhile Horizons catalogues that he and fellow countryman, GMJ, preside over. Now returning to the label with a new twin-track offering, Matter delights once again with “Embrace / Elsewhere”.

From April 2020’s “Lost on Origin” and December 2023’s “Stellaris / Idtritah” with long-time friend and production partner, GMJ, to solo endeavours that include 2020’s musical triptych, “Amanita” and 2022’s “Banksia, Matter has continued to excel time and again in the progressive house realm. Always at the vanguard of an ever-evolving genre, the Australian star continues to find success in the studio in tandem with global DJ performances across Europe in Amsterdam, Glasgow, London as well as festival appearances in Australia and in clubs throughout his Melbourne hometown.

Now returning with a brand-new sonic diptych, “Embrace” is a chugging rhythmic gem that sparkles with hi-hat dynamism while a lilting percussive groove and cavernous kick keep a lock-tight beat. A beautifully syncopated synth-line, textured pads and floating vocal phrases create a relaxed atmosphere, as they evolve gently into full-formed phrases at the breakdown. Dropping back in the warm embrace of the earlier rhythmic phrasing, the vocal phrasing continues alongside the ethereal melodic elements and intermittent effects.

Opening with a bouncing grooved bassline and fizzing shaker pattern, a metronomic kick paves the way for a muted synth sequence to filter into the sonic foreground with ease. A sub-bassline deeper than the Mariana Trench adds to cascading sonic landscape as arpeggiated layers, thickly textured pads and white-noise fills join together. A heavily delayed and reverb-drenched vocal reveals itself at the breakdown alongside an array of melodic sequences, before the epic groove drops back in through the third movement with the extended vocal phrase and arpeggio combining to mesmerising effect.

Back to welcome the Meanwhile faithful with a 24-carat jewel, Matter’s hallmark of quality can be found running through “Embrace / Elsewhere”.

An artist with a growing Meanwhile history, Mike Rish returns to the label with a 3rd original EP, this time with the “Akhnaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” triple-tracker.

A story that began in late-2021, Mike Rish and his “Beyond” EP ignited a spark that would go on to burn brightly amongst a galaxy of stars on GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint. Already a regular on such celebrated labels as Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found, the Australian artist has continued to see his distinctive and mature production sound much sought after.

Now returning to Meanwhile for the first time since June 2023’s “GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka”, “Akhnaton” is inspired by the Amsterdam club of the same name and host of Meanwhile’s debut label showcase at ADE 2023. Full of trademark character, the track is a pounding club floor-filler with white-noise back drop and chugging bassline intent. Full of mesmeric soundscapes, and cascading delays, the track builds in power as subtle melodies are introduced amongst the immaculately placed pauses that help ramp up the intensity. The result is a masterful affair.

Continuing the hefty rhythmic narrative, familiar tropes percolate around “Gröv” like a fine wine. Under a huge, throbbing backdrop of seismic beat and cavernous bass pattern, spine-tingling melodies float across the mid-range before coming to the fore at the extended breakdown. Adding to the sonic collage with a hypnotising off-beat chord motif, the track then drops back into the familiar form of earlier phases as it draws to its conclusion.

The final offering sees “Cloudbreaker” continue to push the sonic envelope with the immaculately crafted bassline extravaganza. Full of percussive intent with shaker-fuelled top-line, a richly syncopated melody captures dancefloor attention, held through a sustained bass phrase at the breakdown. Hitting its straps again in the third movement, the gargantuan groove and luscious melodic interplay break through in a stormfront of club vibrancy and brio.

A force to be reckoned with via another EP chock-full of skill, technique and craftsmanship, Mike Rish excels once more via his “Ahknaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” EP.
