"Flowers for St. George" (2024) is going_sumwhere's first ever solo release project. 8 beats, 19 minutes and 29 seconds. This project is to be looked at as a 'pause' in the everyday insular experience that is our lives; a zoomed out, bigger picture look at everything we are and have been. Metaphorically speaking, the album is about a sense of self and development as it relates to my life. Musically speaking, these beats all sat on my computer until I gained some perspective and allowed myself to give flowers to them. 

It can be hard to give flowers to ourselves and to our music sometimes, especially when we're fundamentally susceptible to the tides of everlasting-perfectionism. This actually all came about because I went through a specific period of starvation where life took away from my ability to create music. As a result of this unsolicited hiatus, I ended up being able to take a step back and appreciate my art and myself as an artist a little bit more. 

This project aims to serve as a reminder for myself and others that what we do, who we are and what we make is dope, regardless of where we're at or if our current stage of development is fun to look at. It's not always easy to remember these things when we're in the midst of everyday life, but hopefully "Flowers for St. George" can serve as a brief reminder that these realities exist, we just have to develop the capacity to recognize them.
