"Big Everything isn’t reinventing the wheel, but the just-have-fun-with-it ethos emanating from their work feels novel in a city where many musicians take themselves too seriously. Comprised of Elenna Canlas and Peter Matson, the Brooklyn-based duo provides a unique take on the various electronic sub-genres reverberating throughout the borough’s dance floors, utilizing vocal chops and club-friendly drum lines that result in a warmly inviting sound.

Today, Mass Appeal is premiering their latest single, “RIDDIM” featuring the self-described “unstoppable internet rap NYC/Philly connection” of Awkwafina and Tierra Whack, who trade tough-talk as Canlas’ Janet Jackson-inspired vocals swirl in the background. As summer peeks its beautiful face from around the corner, we can’t help but imagine this joint blasting a backyard cookout somewhere in BK.

Confusion (feat. Bajah)

"As members of the Afrobeat-inspired outfit Underground System, New Yorkers Peter Matson and Elenna Canlas have come a long way between that project and the work they create as the duo Big Everything. On “Sa Wut,” which will become the third single from Big Everything Mixtape when it drops on June 16, the pair embarks on a sonic adventure that takes them way beyond Afro-funk.

That’s not to say they don’t still keep things funky; they undeniably do, but in more (and different) ways than before. The slip-and-slide electro-funk grooves that Mason and Canlas have come up with are influenced by everything from the UK Funky scene of a decade ago to classic ’70s P-Funk, and inevitably a dash of Zapp influence, making for a loose-limbed, woozy atmosphere that’s nonetheless packed to the gills with hard-hitting beats. So what will the rest of Big Everything Mixtape sound like? Stream “Sa Wut” below and then you can extrapolate from there."

Big Everything is the alter ego brainchild of Brooklyn musician and DJ scene cohorts/Underground System band mates Elenna Canlas and Peter Matson. Equal parts NYC club culture, freaky funk and R&B vocal stylings, and electronic reckless abandon all tied together, the 'Big Everything Mixtape' is a reflection of the influences, individuality, and attitude that have been absorbed and spit back out into a project that is 100% produced in a bedroom by Peter and Elenna.

This release is a first glimpse into Big Everything's colorful crazed universe, containing mostly brand new original material, and a few tips of the hat to legends such as Nate Dogg (RIP), Janet Jackson, and Genesis.
