This project is inspired by the musically composed classic “Piñata” by musician Freddie Gibbs and super producer Madlib, which released on March 18th 2014. I remember an interview with duo on YouTube years ago where Freddie Gibbs states that the original name for the album was “Cocaine Piñata” but the project couldn’t be pushed forward to stores and other marketplaces due to the name of the title so that’s how Piñata came to be. So on my project titled “CRACK PIÑATA”, I’ve taken the samples from my favorite songs on the original album and, in a sense, cooked it up in my own way. People have said that cocaine was openly used in the late 70s early 80s when it was pure and not stepped on, and they said Crack was more powerful and addictive than anything they’ve seen. That was my approach to this project, what Madlib has done on Piñata is, in my opinion, the purest form of hip hop and letting the rapper rap. What I did was put trap drums and the same samples he used. This is what hip hop is, making and/or taking something, and making it relatable to you, and that what was done.
