Mix 186 is a special one brought to us by one of South Africa's finest poets, DJs and artist Lazarusman aka Lazarus Mathebula. He's been hypnotizing dancefloors for almost a decade with his silky smooth spoken word poems beautifully woven into the tracks by some of top names in the electronic scene including Stimming, Kaldera, Chopstick & Jonjon, Xinobi, Dilby & DJ T. 

His recent Spotify hit Oceans of My Mind with Kaldera released on HMWL has racked over 2 millions streams on Spotify mainly driven by the loungy remix by Urmet K as well as remixes by SURAJ, Simina Grigoriu and Moe Danger. In the very end of the mix you can get a preview of his forthcoming release with Urmet K on Magician on duty.

For the over a decade The Lazarusman has been spreading mixing spoken word with electronic music and infecting dance floors with his unique lyrics and take on poetry. Having collaborated with a slew of international artists like, Stimming, Florian Kruse, Tigerskin, Hyenah, DJ. T, Phonique and appearances on labels like Get Physical, Diynamic, HMWL, Moon Harbour, Rebellion, Freerange, Noir Music and many more. The Lazarusman has solidify his status as one of the most influential people in dance music right now.

His solo live performances fuse the current mood of any dance floor as well as a consideration of the past, present and future elements of deep house, techno, disco and house. It’s an idiosyncratic approach to DJing and performing spoken word, with regular appearances in Moscow, Lisbon, Zurich, Berlin and Hamburg proof of the effectiveness of this one of way of delivering performance.

Hailing from San Francisco, Mark Slee is known to wear many creative hats. But two of his all-time favorite fashions are that of DJ and producer. Since co-founding House-Heads in 2008, a collective combining forward-thinking music with a quirky underground vibe, he has gone on to join the Listed Bookings roster and host the monthly mix show Heron Sound on Proton Radio. Most recently he has formed Manjumasi Music, a label collaboration with long-time partner in crime Atish.

Over the course of an obsession with dance music now more than 15 years strong, Slee has evolved a style of deep house that reflects a unique personality, balancing intricate grooves, dreamy textures, and playful whimsical bounce. Blending his technical side with intuition and introspection, he takes an approach that tickles both mind and soul.

Slee's sets have taken him far and wide, playing for audiences from Cape Town to Playa del Carmen, from Robot Heart to the Cityfox series in NYC. On the home front, his penchant for diverse and well-crafted warmup sets sees him regularly playing SF's top clubs, supporting DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Matthew Dear, Guy Gerber, Matthew Dekay, Vincenzo, Andre Lodemann, Stimming, Extrawelt and Hector.

Rounding things out are his original productions and remixes, released on Manjumasi, Cityfox, Seven Villas, Magician On Duty, Lost Diaries, Proton Music, Loöq Records, Tenampa, and Submarine Vibes.

Italy’s Luca Bacchetti has in some shape or form been involved in the music industry since 1992. His experience is evident in the professionalism, and unique sound that he pushes. 

His earlier EP releases on labels like Tenax, Wagon Repair, and Ovum, have led to signings for other quality imprints that include Crosstown Rebels, All Day I Dream, and Bedrock. In 2013 Luca started his own label, and created the now highly respected ENDLESS Recordings, which boasts tracks from buzz artist like Trikk, Eagles & Butterflies, Love Over Entropy, and, of course, there are releases from Bacchetti himself. 

As a DJ, he is also a renowned selector, and has played in over 80 countries at the world’s best clubs, and festivals such as Burning Man, Panorama Bar, and fabric.This coming September Bacchetti will release his debut LP ‘Secret World’ on his own imprint, alongside several remixes, and two new EPs, with one of them being released on the Japanese label Endless Flight.

On this mix for Balance, Bacchetti delivers a contemporary soundscape of house, and techno that takes in Damon Jee, Jimi Jules, Lauer and more.

As the sun set and the first 3 stars appeared in the sky, the dust finally settled after a rough two days. We gathered from across the Playa - the open hearts, the playa misfits, the loving trouble makers, and one by one boarded the flight, one that would take us beyond any pre-planned travel route. 
As often happens at Burning Man, you can plan an evening, build a lineup, make sure all technical equipment is in place and the playa will still provide you with an adventure of her own.    
It’s the beautiful tension between holding an intention and knowing when to let go and trust that whatever needs to happen will. 
This set was originally planned to be 1.5 hours and ended up running for over 4 hours. As magic manifested on the plane’s deck, the music continuously played and the Playa kept dancing. 
We’re happy to introduce you to Gio Israel's Friday night set featuring acclaimed cellist and musician Hadas Kleinman. Here is the first hour of their extended set that night.

Incredible experience at Kater Blau the other weekend - first time playing my new music in Berlin! There’s something about playing Techno to Germans especially on their home turf that makes me a little nervous :)  I put it down to the country turning out so many seminal artists & production heroes of mine. It’s important to me that the music comes across as authentic, adding something new to new to the already rich sonic tapestry.  Here’s an hour I managed to record from the set.
