Before You Accuse Me (Eric Clapton Cover)

"Mustang Sally" is a rhythm and blues (R&B) song written and first recorded by Mack Rice in 1965. It was released on the Blue Rock label (4014) in May 1965 with "Sir Mack Rice" as the artist. The song uses an AAB layout with a 24-bar structure. 

It gained greater popularity when Wilson Pickett covered it the following year on a single, a version that was also released on the 1966 album.

Jim’s newest release, “You Know It’s All A Lie,” is the story of a man who believed he had fully recovered from a devastating break up and was ready to move on. But he was only fooling himself, and finally had to admit the truth. The song includes a great pedal steel track by Grammy nominated Troy Engle and the final remix was done by Carsten Schack.

A young country woman once believed her man’s love was eternal. Yet, without any explanation, he left her and married someone else, leaving her with a deep sense of loss and heartache. Despite still loving him, she wished him and his new bride well, but on his wedding night she cried, and continues to carry a profound, unresolved sorrow.    This song was inspired by a poem written by my grandmother over 30 years ago. I wrote a song, recorded it on an old tape recorder and set it aside. Recently, while going through an old box of papers, I rediscovered the poem and wondered if it reflected a hidden chapter of her life. Feeling that the story deserved to be shared, I decided to re-record and bring the song to life once again.

So guys and gals sitting on the bar stools would flirt with each other via the mirror. Once in awhile a guy would get up and go over to hit on a girl. Sometimes he got shot down. Sometimes the guy and gal walked out of the bar together. This was always a song for a woman to sing and Donna King nailed it

Gonna Ride That Train Tonight

Big Jim Davis started writing songs at the age of 15, and decades later he believes he’s delivering his best work yet. 

Throughout his life, Big Jim Davis has pulled inspiration from a wide variety of heavy hitters. Asking him to narrow down his influences is as he puts it “not possible.” The likes of blues greats Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and B.B. King, country and rockabilly stars Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins, and classic rock  groups Cream, The Yardbirds and the Zombies have each given him lessons in not only songwriting but performance, delivery, and grace. Today he’s taken all he’s learned from the greats both past and present, as well as his own life experiences and created a healthy amount of music that comes in hues of Blues, Country, and Rock. All the while, personal homages to his life and the universal feelings of love, loss and then some flow through his music.

A multi-instrumentalist who takes on the guitar, bass, banjo, keyboard, piano and harmonica, Big Jim Davis has proven time and time again to be a master of his craft. He spends much of his time in his studio crafting music, but occasionally performs with local bands in the Los Angeles area and his home state of Tennessee.
