This is a project I did back in 2012, it has been on youtube and I thought I should share it with my soundcloud family.  It touches on some highlights of my life back then and it showcases a lot of wordplay from me and the people I was working with. 

The album was my first solo recorded project and it got mad love when I performed it at almost all the platforms we have here in Jozi.

Born Michael Sello Mabusela, Big Mike has proved to be one of the best artists South Africa has ever produced thus far. He was born in 1984 in Meadowlands Soweto, beginning his rap career at the age of 9. Big Mike was introduced to rap music when he was asked to perform in church. He then fell in love with the art and continued to harness his lyrical ability through years of practice and determination. He then attended a technical college, where he studied music production and sound engineering. At the time, Big Mike had started making waves in the underground hip hop scene in Johannesburg South Africa. Together with his friend, Problem Child, they formed a formidable rap clique called 3rd World Ryders. The rap crew dropped a few underground hip hop albums, which created a buzz in the streets. However, due to creative differences and the untimely death of Problem Child, Big Mike started his journey pursuing his solo career. In 2013, Big Mike independently released his first solo mixtape titled "Biggin Up My Block", which caused a lot of controversy in the streets, as he showcased his intense lyrical ability and creativity. The mixtape resulted in Big Mike performing on stages all over Johannesburg, further solidifying his street credibility and popularity. Big Mike then signed a recording deal with Nirvana Records SA, which led to a business partnership with Thabang Motsepe, founder and director of Nirvana Records SA. The rapper/producer and mogul in the making has since been working on discovering and mentoring new talented artists, as well as making hit-music for the co-owned recording label. Currently Big Mike is working on breaking goals and milestones that will change the hip hop industry in South Africa and also set him apart from his peers; making him a pioneer of his time. He currently has a mixtape available called “Road to 84” which embodies his musical journey thus far; and another mixtape that is due for release soon called “Seasons Change” where he collaborates with a producer named Propound Beats on edgy and ground breaking sounds. He is also working on a project now where he will be producing, writing and performing all the songs on the album, this project is due for release in 2020. He has helped and mentored many artists such as Capital P, Swazii, Capital B (to name a few) in their music careers through production, multiple song features and performance. Big Mike also worked with numerous artists in his tenure as a musician both through production and through blessing them with verses on their records. As a result of his hard work in the studio, Big Mike has been able to perform at over 300 events to date and constantly outshining his pears with technique and the ability to stay on top of his game with new and classic performance material. As a performing artist he is able to interact with the crowd in a remarkable way. There is no limit to Big Mike’s music career because he has not limited himself thus far and will not start now.
