On February 22, Australian vintage-pop duo Big Reef release 'Hasta Luego', a melancholic beach anthem, laced with all the typical production flourishes of 80s pop the duo are known for.

'Hasta Luego' is the first of many releases that brothers Morgan and Hayden Quinn have slated for 2024. "It is a song about individualistic determination. Through stubborn, angst driven power chords the listener is invited to reflect on their personal motivations. Outside of everyday responsibilities, how do we spend our time? The challenge for humans to co-exist with our differing priorities is ongoing and significant." says vocalist Morgan Quinn.

Aesthetically, the song is a sunburnt assembly of tight, punchy drums, chorus-laden guitar chords and the classic synth sounds of bells and strings. Sitting atop this firm production, the incredibly catchy vocal hook of "Hasta Luego, I've been waiting for so long'. 

Described by the band as a 'micro-epic', Hasta Luego comes to it's final and most powerful crescendo in it's 4th minute. The song is broken down to bare bones and carefully builds back up to an unbelievable threshold, afterwhich, Hasta Luego rides out it's remaining 3 minutes into the salthazed horizon on a bed of screaming lead guitar, a rolling disco bassline and the affirming yet tongue-in-cheek lyrics "Turn up to the party uninvited, my +1 is a healthy appetite, yeah"

In their short stint as an active band, Big Reef have sold out shows in their home town of Sydney and built a fierce and loyal fanbase in Wollongong, Canberra and Melbourne through consistant touring, unique single releases and a thoroughly engaging live show with accompanying live visual art composed by the band. By harnessing their bizzare sense of humor, reverence for all forms of inventive pop music and their respect for visual art and it's role in music, the brothers are building a world around them which sucks in anyone who stares for too long.

Drawing influence from Ariel Pink and The Strokes, The MVP is another indie pop hit from Big Reef.  Grounded by Lo-fi Linn Drum beat, the song features overdriven vocals, tape-saturated guitars, bass guitar reminiscent of Peter Hook and an incredibly catchy chorus.
