It's undeniable fact that men are the best cooks in the world, and it applies to Armenian duo Supacooks, whose imposing cooking attracts real gourmets. On their menu you can find different types of original and new music recipes, created in Deep House, Tech House and Techno styles. Music salads by Supacooks are unusual because of their components, you will not find them in any supermarket or refrigerator. Tracks born in the creative process, but enthusiasm and inspiration does not always come from the kitchen, they catch it everywhere. However proportions of salt and pepper followed perfectly.
Leon and Danny had their debut single "Aftermath" on Parquet Recordings in August 2017 and landed a real smasher in the progressive house scene. Their latest single "Gate"  together with The Second Sense in November was a more than worthy follow-up single.

Second part out now. I did this last night with the Carl Cox-method, picked 100 tracks, and played for two and half hours of those without any real plan. The end result turned out quite well IMO, feels like a live mix in the back room of a club, though done at home. Hope you like this too, quite different from the techno-mix, a slow burner with very few big moments.

David Brown and James Taylor began making music in 1993 and in those post-iron curtain times took much inspiration from the dark and cold eastern block. The Swayzak name came later as much inspired by eastern Europe as it was Hollywood .. this is indicative of the juxtaposition of Swayzak. Before Googling and the facebook revolution, information was spread by word of mouth and paper and record stores, reputations built on musical prowess and friendships. Swayzak used the technology of the times; fax, pagers, photocopiers and answering machines to spread the word. But it was only in 1997 by releasing their first vinyl record “Bueno/Fukumachi” (a record of deep dubby minimal house inspired as much by manga as a trip to Spain) to much hulabaloo of those who had picked up on their sound. Luckily, this was enough to inspire the young chaps to make more records on their self funded label. 

Laurent Garnier’s “beautiful and moody” answering machine comment gave them much confidence in their sound. As things moved forward via strange twists they found themselves in 1998 releasing a debut album “Snowboarding in Argentina“ to much critical acclaim. An album with one misguided aim to fund a snowboarding holiday! one that hasn’t quite been achieved, though Argentina has been gigged several times! However it did put them on the road to bigger things, playing everywhere from Chile to Japan and quite a few places in between.

A new label services deal with !K7 was announced this year that will see the relaunch of the Two Hundred & Forty Volts label. A full re-release of Deluxe Editions of the entire Swayzak catalogue alongside sub-labels Swayzak Recordings, Voltmusik, Snooploops and Disco Dub Plates will launch the campaign, the majority of which has never been available digitally before now. 

The ‘Lost Tapes’ compilation was be released in December just gone, a retrospective of Swayzak works which alongside unreleased and material will include a brand new Swayzak single paving the way for 2018 with new original material on 240 Volts, 17 Steps, Rekids, Bella Union and more... In these times of micro-genres and rapid rise DJ stars, Swayzak continues to stick to his guns, happy in his outsider status and content not to hop on to any passing bandwagon.

Techno breakthrough artist Uchi takes the reigns for this week's LT Podcast. With her stunning debut release landing last year on Plangent Records and new releases coming up this year, the Berlin-based Venezuelan artist has chalked-up gigs in some of the most significant  as De School, Output, Panorama Bar & Säule/Berghain. This set was recorded back at LUX in Lisbon, and is a taste of her versatile music profile; shifting from dark, deep & banging techno to more astral electro sounds and spinning out into a full night-club trip.

3 QUESTIONS to CID INC:

Q: Talking about your mix: How did you meet the bass, Mister Hurtig?

A: The most influential time that shaped my sound was between end of 1980s until some where beginning of 2000's. There were so many producers, tracks and genres that had a huge impact on me at that time, I simply couldn't fit everything in the mix. I've chosen tracks that either touched me emotionally or where I got the WOW and goosebumps feeling when I heard them for the first time.
 
Q: As you´re living in a smaller city close to Helsinki in Finland. How do you manage your travels every weekend?

A: It's actually quite convenient. I live in Pirkkala now, we have a small airport just around 7 km from home. Sometimes I take a really short flight or a 1,5h train trip to Helsinki airport where from I continue the journey.

Q: Which Cid Inc projects are coming soon?

A: I've finished quite a lot of new originals the past months, so expecting to release them this year on my own Replug label and a few others obviously. This year Replug label nights will propably see the daylight as well.
