WilliE went in with the idea of creating a bluesy warm record reminiscent hints the strong electric guitar & funk heavy bass riff at the opening and throughout the record. In the song you hear the singers stance on teaching lessons in love, more specifically on how she has no problem with removing herself from any situation that does not seem progressive. The title of the song was in reference to the 06' film "Akeelah & The Bee" in which actor Laurence Fishburne played the role of Akeelah's (Keke Palmer) teacher/mentor for her national spelling bee competition. Which is why WilliE found it comical to spell out numerous words throughout the hook of the song such as  "Won't take no p-l-a-y-ing, with my m****f***** heart, or I'll go m-i-a on y-o-u and leave you in the m******f**** dark" . In WilliE's words "It's a niche reference for sure but the ones that get it, get it!"
