Tonight’s Somersault Mix is brought to us by Bil Sol! “Currently based in the south east coast of the UK, He's one of the head honcho's of 22tapes who have been putting on club nights since 2017 around london. Aswell as organising events & being a resident DJ for 22tapes he's been doing a montly show on threads radio
for the best part of the year, which he feels gives him the oppotunity to get right into his collection and showcase his expansive taste of music. 

Before the pandemic Bil was also Dj'ing various small parties across london & brighton. He's got some big plans with 22tapes 
when the clubs are back open aswell as that he's currently working on a new project which he's hoping to get out this summer. 

Being massively influenced by 90's electronic from an early age, he dedicates this mix to that era of music, mixing a plethora 
of cosmic & euphoric soundscpaes with lots of bleeps n bloops, playful percussion, acid hooks and ravey stabs. 

All culminating into a mix that gives off some very strong forest rave vibes.” We hope you enjoy!

South East selector and 22 Tapes boss Bil-Sol has lit up our Sunday with a 1.5 hour mega mix for the series. Rather than paraphrasing a description for this one, here’s what Bil said himself: ‘I wanted this mix to showcase a whole load of genres and soundscapes that I've been playing recently, from soft aquatic feeling house, progressive house with a cosmic tinge, to trance and donk. With most of my mixes I always want to create a high nrg club feel, whilst keeping a nostalgic and euphoric vibe. A load of these tracks I've found in cheap record bins and recent Bandcamp purchases. Hope everyone enjoys the mix.’

Aside from Djing, Bil runs 22 Tapes, who recently sold out Corsica Studios with their last event and have a banging monthly show on Threads Radio. Bil also recently started Aquatic Formations, a new music and art platform. With a mix series already up and running, Aquatic Formations hope to begin releasing music soon and start throwing small DIY parties in the future.

For this month’s show, Annx (@anna-rose-wirth) invites Brighton-based DJ and events organiser Bil-sol (@Bil-Sol). He’s been organising @22tapes parties at the likes of Corsica Studios and The Cause since 2017. He also runs a mix series/music & art platform @aquaticformations which focuses on the more dreamier and euphoric side of 90’s electronic music.

In this mix, Bil has crafted together some newer releases with some ‘psy-tingled club tracks’ crossing a few different sounds along the way — all inspired by his passion for nostalgic, high energy and euphoric 90’s electronic music.

"In this mix I wanted to show off the sort of tracks Iv'e been feeling & playing out recently - starting off the mix with a bit of cosmic House & prog moving into some more club ready tracks traversing through the realms of Goa-tinged trance. Expect loads of atmospheric sounds, cheeky acid lines with a slight dusting of euphoria all whilst keeping a continuous groove throughout the mix"

'PLASMA' w/ TSUNIMAN - a monthly evening show exploring the wide spectrum of Trance music, focusing on Euro, Hardtrance and the progressive sound of the 1990s.

'PLASMA' (Плазма) is a 1997 trance track by producer Eduard Gubin (aka Cosmonaut, aka Radiotrance). "He was one of the first electronic music artists who has been successfully pulling in big crowds all over Russia and Eastern Europe. For over two decades his mission has been to transport the masses to a vivid alternate realm of progressive house, techno, breaks and trance" (RA).

Joining me is Bil-Sol (@bil-sol ), a DJ and events organiser based on the sunny southeast coast of England. He's been running parties with @22tapes since 2017 holding events at venues such as Corsica Studios and The Cause.
As well as running events with 22Tapes, he manages a Music & Arts platform called Aquatic Formations (@aquaticformations) which focuses on dreamy Aesthetics & euphoric electronic music - with a mix-series on the go and a monthly residency on Komrad radio (@komunal_radio), Bil has big plans for Aquatic Formations from running events to releasing tunes under the brand name.
An avid record collector and 90's electronic music fanatic, Bil tries to showcase all spectrums of his collection in his mixes & radio shows. His collections span from Italian 90's dream house, bumpy UKG to Progressive house/trance and beyond. He holds no judgement when it comes to style & genre.
Most recently Bil has been churning out mixes for a number of platforms & radio shows - he's got a couple more mixes up his sleeve and plans for big events over the summer whilst also gearing up for a few bookings over the summer months and beyond.
