"Chicago native Justin Aulis Long discovered his fascination for uncanny music at an early age when his mother entrusted him with her record collection that spanned from UK punk to American dance. This  served as a gateway, stimulating his journey into the sonic vortex. As a child of Medusa’s on Sheffield, Long gained a higher level of musical education. His weekly pilgrimages to this venue’s all-ages hedonistic dance parties supplied a compelling musical concoction of acid house, UK bleep, industrial and new wave. Possessed by these unorthodox forms of music, Long purchased his first set of turntables and began to collect 12-inch singles from local record shops. Though his intentions were solely to pander to his musical appetite in the privacy of his bedroom, this acquisition proved to be the genesis of a voyage that continues to present him with new challenges that are met with an unforgiving dogmatic approach.

Long cut his teeth during the early 90’s at many of Chicagos Infamous DIY and underground warehouse raves. pulling selections from a variety of his musical influences and interests. Eventually graduating to take residencies at many of the cities established club venues and landing a residency at Smart Bar where he is currently the longest consecutive resident."

I recorded this right before I left for my trip on V-Day. Took me a few listens to decide whether or not I liked it enough as I did it on the fly in one take! (I'm starting to get alright at this 'mixing' thing). I was lucky enough to have a handful of, my friend, Johnny's records that he left at my place. I told him that some of his records went from NearMint to VG only now. Oops! #sorrynotsorry.  A couple of other songs, I heard out on a special night out!  #givecreditwhereitisdue. Some old classics in there, a new one by  Levon Vincent from his album (go get it!), a lot of Kai Alce's work and, even mister armand van helden!

I text a lot. but i cannot stop using the voice memo feature on whatsapp. Saves me the hassle of typing and a phone conversation. haha.  so i used a friend's silly voice memo to me cuz i think it suits the valentine's day theme nicely.

i mentioned not too long ago on my bilaliwood facebook page that i have a few mixes that ive had sitting around in my archives (some for longer than a year) and im just gonna go ahead and share... i mean, why not.... 

this mix, i put together 3 months ago, has got mostly classics like a danny tenaglia edit on grace jones, a murk release, chez/trent etc...and then some more recent things coming out of a brooklyn label "loves notes from brooklyn" and other schtuffffff......

and dont take the titles to these mixes so seriously.... do i find myself well behind the curve.... at times, yes.... and then when i see whats happening in this music environment, im  confident in saying i dont care if im behind the curve, at least this music is farrrrrrr ahead......and thats what counts
