From 1980. American Noise was still another best kept secret Cleveland band that delivered a notable debut album - but remained undiscovered beyond of Greater Cleveland region by reasons well beyond their control. Fronted by brothers Craig and Bruce Balzer and a who’s who of prominent local musicians, American Noise was signed by Planet Records, a vanity label owned by famed producer Richard Perry, (Carly Simon, Nilsson, Ringo Starr, Fanny, Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand, among others). Regrettably, Perry’s only successful Planet label album was by the Pointer Sisters, and it was their last charting LP.  Regardless of the album being recognized as a power pop masterpiece, the band, like many others in the region, did not have the essential management contacts to broaden its base.  The Planet label was also underfunded and even with Elektra Records’ WEA distribution, the album did not receive sufficient national promotion and marketing.  But in Greater Cleveland, American Noise were one of the top-selling, top drawing and best live bands.
