Sliding in with his Debut Release, Mexican native, AIOKAI will put you through the ringer with this monstrous bass heavy EP laced with BADMAN riddims. Also featuring //DarkMode’s SubFILLA with a DnB remix, this EP is not one for the faint hearted. 

I Dread My Genes is a release that describes what is like living with epigenetic PTSD and OCD and how the latter may be connected to a genetic condition in his family.

About Aiokai
Aiokai is a drum & bass and dubstep producer from Mexico. He also likes to explore other genres like uk garage, future garage, breakbeat, breakbeat hardcore and juke/footwork. His DJ Sets are known to have a constant flux, altering the mood depending on what’s happening on the dance floor, never switching genres without accounting for structure, vibes, and groove. He is known for being an important part of the Mexican junglist scene.

He has played in Italy, Croatia and England and alongside artists such as DJ Marky, MC Fava, Run Tingz, Calculon and more. He considers that working at the Outlook Festival in 2018 and 2019 has given him a rich taste in multiple music genres. He is also a music production, sound design and sound engineering teacher. Aiokai works as a music promoter with multiple agencies such as Jungle Empire, BLDSMX and TLILTIC. In the last two, he also manages and does A&R for their respective record labels. He also works as a music writer, interviewer and curator in TLILTIC Radio, an online electronic music magazine and platform.

About Sub Filla
Sub Filla is a Perth based Drum and Bass artist with a hint of Halftime and Deep Dubstep. Owner and founder of Perth record label SUB ERA as well as A&R of newly formed label //DarkMode. With many upcoming releases and shows still left in his packed 2021 calendar, its safe to say it's going to be one of Sub Filla's best year.

Drum & Bass adventurer Hybris is known for his consummate sound design, but his latest release with Melbourne-based collective Plasma Audio sees the Prague-based producer venturing deep into a concept with Plasma partners Safire and Akane that has made the art as tangible as Hybris’ own audio textures.

As discussed with UKF earlier this week, Hybris and the Plasma team became inspired by his forthcoming two-tracker Krackalakin/Munchies and immediately felt a need to build something real around it. Safire explained the process in detail —

Our focus was to keep elements in the design our own, all things are real – the chocolate, leaf, hand drawn font and obviously Hybris’s face. Once the design was complete, it was adapted to fit a generic block size, we wrapped a chocolate block and did some product photography. It feels like there is so much digital work around, not much is made by hand or has a natural element to it…. We want to bring the human side back into art and music.

Today, Hybris and Plasma premiere the A-side, “Krackalakin,” which sees Hybris “having fun with getting crackly textures out of a soft synth” in meandering halftime. Hailing from the city of Nis in Serbia, Djordje Jeremic is a producer who has a soft spot for deep dynamic minimal sounds. Producing Drum & Bass under the name 'Missing' he is turning the heads and ears of bedroom producers, everyday fans of the genre to even professional DJs and prominent figures within the Drum & Bass sphere.

Mistakes EP, is the first solo release on Terra Firma for Missing, having previously collaborated with Nemy with the smooth 'Did To Me'. Here, his clinical production combined with throttled basslines and eerie padded textures results in a transcendent piece of work and a mystical listening experience.

Title track 'Mistakes' sets the tone with floating vocals meandering throughout a dark bed of anticipation. Dynamic percussion and prodding basses are ever-present, as there are in 'No Good', an extension to what is becoming an enveloping mysterious journey. The gearstick gets changed in 'Shaku', we aren't sure whether it's gone up or down a gear, but here a strong rhythm imposes itself courtesy of textbook Missing halftime beats. Last up is 'Not Regular', an emphatic last chapter sending shivers down your spine.
