Shuffling out of North and South London in fatigues and military grade gas masks, TELEFAX PRODUCTIONS are the mysterious musical masterminds behind one of 2024’s hottest club cuts - revivalist hip-house jam ‘Break This House Down’. Formed by two vastly experienced producers and sci-fi fanatics whose working partnership began way back in the late 1980s, TELEFAX PRODUCTIONS was born to provide a platform for established and unknown artists, using a moniker inspired by one of Andy Warhol’s sci-fi movies. Each of their releases pushes a featured artist to the fore, with our shadowy heroes providing a musical canvas for their vocal and lyrical talents. TELEFAX PRODUCTIONS’ first missive, arriving via Luke Solomon’s Classic Music Company imprint, stars previously unheard mic man DeeVoeNay – a young rapper hailing from Buffalo, NY, who they first encountered while out crate digging in South London last year. Naturally, DeeVoeNay’s distinctive flow and party-starting raps come to the fore on ‘Break This House Down’ – an infectious, floor-friendly hip-house jam that recalls the bustling, breakbeat-driven rush of the style’s late ‘80s, early ‘90s heyday. On top of the sonics, every aspect of ‘Break This House Down’ has been carefully curated, with the well-established, multi-faceted artist Jimmy Cauty responsible for the bold and highly stylised artwork.

Modern house champion Butch returns to Defected alongside genre-hopping songwriter and vocalist Life On Planets with ‘Get High With You’. Butch’s 2023 release ‘I Want You’ with Nic Fanciulli was one of Defected’s most celebrated, and in 2025 he returned to the London label, remixing Duck Sauce’s ‘Fallin In Love’ which charted in the Beatport top ten and was supported by Danny Howard, Arielle Free and Sarah Story on BBC Radio 1. Also no stranger to the Defected family, Life On Planets landed on sister label Classic Music Company in 2023 alongside Lubelski with the eclectic ‘Mercury In Retrograde’, a tastemaker release showcasing the multi-instrumentalists soulful vocals and songwriting prowess. The two artists now come together on Defected, after Butch remixed Life On Planets’ ‘Downstream’ with Makèz; ‘Get High With You’ shows a clear reverence for the noughties, but modern harmonic progressions and daring production choices propel the record into 2025 and beyond.

As the head of Berlin’s eminently respected OYE Records, it’s no surprise Markus “https://soundcloud.com/delfonic” Lindner would come correct with the edit heat for his first outing on Razor-N-Tape. The record starts out smooth and summery with The Flow, a club-ready rework of an underground Jamaican disco classic, followed by the furious afro-boogie stomp of “SPF.” On the b-side an extended percussion jam builds ferociously and finally drops into a lovely lesser-known revamp of a killer disco anthem. Music is Love indeed!

We probably don't need to remind you that WBDB was the biggest selling dance vinyl single of 2016.  It was 'No 1 on Juno' and 'Record Of The Year at Phonica'.  Apparently Elton John played it too!

Danny Berman aka Red Rack'em brings us two more burners on his much loved Bergerac label. This year his hotly tipped 'Self Portrait LP ' was released & now Danny's got his sights set firmly on the dancefloor once more.  2017 has been a vintage year for the Berlin based DJ producer with Radio 1 mixes, some serious air miles, remixes for Tensnake, Tinie Tempah & shows for Rinse .

'Place For Me (Version)' is a cut up, pumping, soulful disco house slammer. Originally released in 2009, it's been updated and remastered and is another great example of Red Rack'ems ability to chop up vocal samples and make something fresh from them.  It's a guaranteed club wrecker.  Look out for the signature 'donk' touch from Wonky...

Parisian Disco surgeon Chevals is back in action with a fresh 10” on Kolour LTD. The release marks the producer’s third outing, and curiously, all of the mysterious horseman’s records thus far have been with American imprints. After sell-out drops on Homage and Better Listen, Chevals moves his magic to the longer-tenured KLRLTD for the 9th entry in their 10” series. 

Our premiere comes via the A-side in “I Can Prove It”. It’s a midtempo, loopy disco gem that sits perfectly in Kolour’s established soundscape. The chopped vocal sample builds in via clever filtering and phrasing before unleashing into epic fullness, accompanied by a chorus of strings and horns and all. Of course, like on all of the Frenchman’s productions, the drums just straight-up bang. Also, the flipside hosts a very very nifty Philly disco edit, but we’ll leave the details of that for another outlet.

Shir Khan continues his flurry of activity with another release in as many weeks. Obviously preparing us for a Summer of shoulder-swinging debauchery, the Black Jukebox pumps out another set of terrace friendly twonkers for the masses, with Freiboitar and Hurlee taking charge of proceedings for number 23 in the set. "Blew My Mind" and "What's Up" are Freiboitar's offerings; both pumpin', new funky house numbers with intricate sample choppage and wonderful, speaker-teasing mixing and mastering. Hurlee's trax take up side B with "On The Floor" and transforms it into a loopy and fuzzy deep house gem. Finally "Disco Love" revisits another joyful moment of disco and funky house history, adding its own interpretation on a hook that's familiar to anyone that's spent more than a fleeting moment on the dancefloor. Strongest Shir Khan for a while this one pop pickers - don't be late to the party!

Classic disco from the prolific Odyssey from 1981 on RCA. I never really gave this tune a chance as the Richie Havens version is one of my all time favourites, but I heard it on the radio the other day and really digged the groove. So played around with some loops using Serato and this is the result. I hope you like it.
