the other day my wife carina (cover pic from early 80s of a party-filled stay with friends somewhere in denmark) asked me why I didn't publish something positive again, something just uplifting without dramatic depth. otherwise, people might think I'm a gloomy sceptic, a notorious nihilist and a pessimistic misanthrope, which personally wouldn't bother me that massively;-)

but of course, she's right, and always being a sourpuss gets boring. so, the album ‘retrospective future’ which was originally intended to be a trilogy is now getting a fourth track: a song originally titled “was ist das her?”, which I wrote around 20 years ago with duet voices in my head – at a time when I thought the previous 20 years were an incredibly long time. interestingly, from today's perspective, I feel no significant difference between 20 and 40 years. however, it's a look back not with a tear in my eye but with a smile in my heart. 

tech: the only way to translate the lyrics so that they still fit the composition, and, above all, the original vocal rhythm was to paraphrase some phrases. I hope all native english speakers will forgive me for any mistakes. 

drilling the rhythm of singing with its pauses and emphases into the AI was surprisingly elaborate, despite the uploaded template. for something called 'intelligence', the machine is still incredibly stupid.

but all the work was worth it because the result is very close to my vision. even if it remains a digitally simulated sketch.

all that remains is to wish you all a wonderful weekend, and to send our deepest love to our dearest friends gary and terry, who are going through a really difficult time. you are the best – and always in our hearts!
