The Last Time Ever I Saw Your Face

Verse 1
Her name was Janet and I met her on the Click and Collect
I got a slot at 3 o’clock every Wednesday
Took me 3 months to get
I used to do the big shop all by me sen
I had a list so I would never forget
But now I’ve met Janet
I only ever Click and Collect

I said “I thought I recognised you, did you used to work on the deli counter?”
She said “I did for 7 years then they shut us down in May
‘Cos they didn’t want us touching the meat”
I said “do you like it here by the trolleys
Do you ever get wet?”
She said “I’d rather be on tills, 
but it’s OK on the Click and Collect”
            		      

Verse 3
I looked her up on Facebook but I didn’t know her second name
I found a Janet from Kimberely
But her photo didn’t look the same
So I went down next morning
Pretending I had something to get
But I really only went to see Janet on the Click and Collect

Verse 4
I tried to impress her with me Taste the Difference sausages
She didn’t seem to notice
So I bought more and more each week
Now all this shopping gets me
Deeper and deeper in debt
But I don’t care
‘cos I love Janet at the Click and Collect

I’ve got me stay-press trousers and I even thought I’d iron me shirt
I’d been working in the garage
And me hands they were covered in dirt
I thought I’d better wash them
Or she’d think I was a dirty git
‘Cos I’m gonna ask out Janet
Next time I’m at the Click and Collect

It was Tuesday night, and I can’t sleep
I thought my heart was torn
I could only think of Janet
In her black and maroon uniform
But then the very next day
I heard the manager say
Those word’s I would never forget
He said “Janet’s rang in poorly,
And Derek’s on the Click and Collect”
