This album was inspired by long-distant nostalgic memories of VHS Space documentaries, BBC Radio Dramas, 70s paperback sci-novels, John Carpenter films and my long-lived obsession with the cosmos. This collection of songs is meant to transport the listener to the rugged martian landscapes and fantastic future civilizations of the dusty paperbacks that belonged to my father. Bill Netherlands is an ambient and film composer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His work is inspired by anything from the work of Brian Eno and Klaus Schulze to the science fiction soundtracks Vangelis and John Carpenter. He has composed several short film scores, and also produces dance music under the alias, Mr. Automatic.
