At the end of winter, the faint breath of life shakes the air as the world is still surrounded by the silence of death. The small breath will eventually become a prelude for the spring when all life plays fanfare and echoes to the world. It's like a majestic symphony played by nature, wrapping the world quietly but with tremendous power. The gentle Eastern breeze, the scent of flowers drifting from afar, the shortening shadows on the ground, the quietly climbing silver moon, the sprouting trees, and the beasts come back to life with their breath. The spring throughout the winter is always far away, yet the warmth is endlessly gentle and floats around the world like soothing music.

Sustain Series returns for its third iteration, bringing together ever-more artists for another showcase of recycled music. Reworks and newfound collaborations make up this 27-piece album, demonstrating what can be achieved with ‘one’s trash and another’s treasure’.

This album is a collaboration between Gallery Six (sound), D.R. Taylor (artwork) and EiramsAccord (essential oils).

The title is derived from a common expression “catch the flavor of the original”. It is in the things we see and hear without thinking that something important, forgotten and despised, lies hidden. It is just like unraveling the sourcebook. I produced this album in the hope that actually coming into contact with the disparaged sounds, flowers, and scents of these objects themselves will make us more aware of what is important and provide us with an opportunity to reconsider.

Arguably, they've come close to achieving their practically impossible mission, conducting themselves with divine patience and deliberation across 15 achingly blissful scenes at once evoking the humbling beauty of the natural world and the yearning sublimity of more soporific states thanks to near-surgical application of software and hardware effects. Unless you're au fait with the likes of Fennesz or Stars Of The Lid, you might never tell that the guitar is at the heart of this record, yet beneath its phosphorescing, crepuscular drones and plangent sonorities the simple six string generates all the source material. So the world it inhabits is essentially that one between states, simulating a quietly vibrant ecology of sub-aquatic bass rumbles, washed out expanses of mid-range swirl and keening top end whose elusive colours seem to fade and coruscate in the low light.
