For March, we explore what I like to call the richer side of deep house. I offer deep sub-bass lows complemented by warm spacey highs, lush synth sweeps, sensual vocal hooks, and a prog-influenced resolution. Progressive house has been entering my consciousness these last few months in various manifestations. These last few years, I admittedly thought "prog" was a dirty word, but as of late I've been finding music that holds on to the melodic beauty of prog, injects deep house grooves, yet still maneuvers away from the cheese the genre has been branded...all of which I think you'll hear in the 2nd half of this mix.

Essential Roots #08 --- @passenger 
Passenger, aka Andrea di Maggio,  is a producer and dj based in Torino. Label Manager at ICON of DESIRE record label, dedicated to deep techno and electro.
Dj resident for the 'Boogie Nights' parties and Jazz:Re:Found Festival, some of his disco edits are published by Light Touches Records.

He says: 

"The more they spread wide and in several directions, the more the roots are solid and firm, the more they absorb in order to grow.

The nice people at Roots Underground kindly asked me to provide a mix exploring my musical 'roots'. It was a hard task to focus since I had several 'influence' periods, depending on the place i was living, the people i met, the moods and the curiosity. I could have explored and exposed my years in the countryside with their healthy dose of italian indie bands (CRX!), or my radio days rich in London vibes, or my early clubbing days devoted to broken beat and disco, etc, each with a distinctive texture of sounds and moods.
But still, I must admit that the strongest influence on my taste came from the moment I discovered Techno: one day mister Laurent Garnier was hosted at B-Side radio programme and played Carl Craig's 'Desire'. I fell off the chair and a new chapter started.
So, for this mix I selected some tracks that spontaneously come to mind when I think about that voracious period of discovery and that sublime sensation of wonder that they bring."

Fall Mixtape 2020

South of Cygnus lies the hazy but exquisite constellation of Sagitta; Gamma Sagittae is an orange giant star, the brightest star of all in this constellation. It forms the tip of the arrow pointing northeastward.
It is only feebly visible to the naked eye on dark skies, set at a distance of 275 light years, it radiates at a level 640 times that of the Sun. Its core is now exhausted and dead, but fusion continues in shells of matter extending out from the original heart of the star. Pulsations and oscillations throughout the space.
And so beyond death/ death at the core, music plays on and continue connecting us all. Be it as it may, keep on dreaming, trust yourself, love and let yourself be loved.
