A good mornings work.  

Guitar and mandolin recorded through two Audix add-51 in xy configuration.  Vocals through Zoom H4n.  Bass plugged straight in to the Zoom.  

There is a bit of compression on just about everything.  I'm trying to get all of the tracks to sound "together".  Any advice is welcome.  

These Audix mics are good for acoustic instruments put don't capture my vocals as well as the Zoom.  I think because they have a much great high frequency response.  Also, the "balanced pair" are not so balanced. One is a slight bit louder than the other. To make things even more interesting (but also helpful) is that one of my xlr cables transmits at a higher level!  So putting the louder cable with the quieter mic allowed me to mostly balance them (at least decibel wise).  



Burn That Bridge

Jam session with some of Ann Arbor's finest picker folk.  Notice Lindsay's amazing scat solo.  Then notice whatever Kyle does afterwards, only to redeem himself with a Bid Dudee Roo at the end.  Nice job everybody!

Hand Me Down My Walkin' Cane

Both guitars recorded into Zoom H4n.  I love this little machine.

Kyle Driver

Quiet, recorded with some nicer mics and with Jordan on violin and Ryan on Bass.  Turns out a stick bass, plugged direct into the Zoom does not make for a rich and resonant bottom end.  Will get there.  Jordan's playing is truly inspirational.  Enjoy
