So a friend linked me a YouTube channel the other day by the name of "barnabydixon": https://www.youtube.com/user/barnabydixon and I decided to sit through the video listed as the channel's trailer. As it turns out, the guy makes some cute little puppets, and pretty damn funny videos with 'em to boot! In the trailer, there was this one sort of whimsical and fantasy-like sounding song that I couldn't get out of my head, so I decided it'd be best to cover it. It's not exactly how I wanted it originally, but I actually do like what it sounds like, so here it is!

This one was a lot of fun! A certain little someone has been obsessed with PSO2 lately, and wanted a song adapted to English, so who was I to object? I took a literal translation of the song from https://alexicography.wordpress.com/2016/07/19/eien-no-encore/ and rewrote the lyrics until they flowed well enough. I was focused on keeping as much of the meaning as possible, so it's a little odd in places, but it matches the original Japanese flow well enough! The cute album art is by a mutual friend, and I just threw some bloom and effects, and a hex pattern over it. I got a good bunch of musical friends, and sometimes the stuff they do inspires me to do something, myself. In this case, my friend Inky released a beautiful lo-fi album of cool, atmospheric covers (available on bandcamp here: https://inkyfirefly.bandcamp.com/album/greatest-hits-vol-2 go get it) which includes the song Die Anywhere Else from the game Night in the Woods. It helps that I've played the game, and loved it, and it DOUBLE helps that Inky's version of the song is AMAZING, and I don't think I could possibly match that style at the stage I'm at. Instead, I decided to do my own take of that version with more vocal harmonies, and bad bass playing.

All of this was whipped up in the course of a few hours this morning, including the art which I made in Paint.net because I'm lazy. I hope you like my version of this impactful and memorable tune.

So, this isn't the big project I've been working on (trust me, I have a big one that will release some time this year), but it's something that did take a lot of work on both mine and a friend's part. I asked my friend - who will only go by the rap name Jabberwocky for now - to write a rap verse just off the top of their head, and said I'd make a beat for it. It was a good exercise in full music production, and I liked the beat so much I decided to write a verse too! I'm not the happiest with my execution, but I'm confident that if I rap in the future it'll get better.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it, and the lyrics are included below (as well as in the file) so that you can test your own rapping skills alongside it if you want. I'm also sorry for not uploading as much as I should recently, which is due to a bunch of life stuff I'd rather not get into here. Hopefully things will change as time goes on.

This one is my first vocal commission work! I had a recent problem with a work client who tried to call me while I was on vacation and ended up getting an old voicemail message of mine where I tricked people into thinking I was answering, but I actually wasn't. He assumed it was me being rude, but we eventually talked about it and cleared up the misunderstanding. 

As an important step in keeping a more professional and more up-to-date representation of myself facing outward to those calls I don't receive, I recorded this, and I'm now using it as my voicemail greeting! I think it says a lot about me without taking too much time to do so.
