So He gets up and fights back, they wrestled to ground
The gun goes off, but he never hears the sound

Rolling around, the clerk jumps the counter
Helps to beat him down, hold him down like a bouncer
They tie him up with a bunch of bungee cord
But left before a statement could be made for the police report

He ran home, feeling better than he ever had
The pain was gone, and he heard himself laugh
For the first time in a long time, he was glad
Cause everything else in his life goes bad

So he lays down, fades off into sleep
He could see the flashing lights, hear sirens up the street
Meanwhile at the scene, the police have arrived
Go in with guns drawn, find the gunman inside 

And the clerk who made the call, said a man he recognized
Helped to save the day, but took off in the night 
He described him as frail, tall, a bit pale
Pointed at they feet, say follow the blood trail

Lead them a block and a half
Came upon the door to his pad with the lock off the latch
Slight crack in the door, they knew it was place
Found him dead in a puddle, with a smile on his face, now that's grace
