I wrote it thinking about rooms where the loudest voice keeps winning by default, not because it has anything worth holding onto, but because silence feels risky. It’s about watching intelligence, creativity, and kindness get sidelined while confidence gets weaponized.

The lyrics move through that realization slowly. First the confusion, then the recognition, then the quiet grief of understanding that survival sometimes meant shrinking yourself.

I remember thinking cool meant
You knew something
Like you had a secret map
Or a better way home

I thought it was the quiet ones
With notebooks bent
Drawing whole worlds
During attendance

Half finished
Kids who could see storms
Before they hit
