The Spanish Underground electronic scene would not be the same without Joton, a respected DJ and producer who has been dignifying his profession and designing unconventional sounds for more than 20 years. He has managed to create his own style. He is also the founder of the label Newrhythmic, with which he has supported national and international artists.

Velvet & Glass was born as is, without needing to be preconceived, devised or projected. It’s nothing more than the result of restlessness, a sort of duality that’s both antagonistic and complementary, unintentionally becoming an album that serves as an introduction to Binary Phaze.

His interest in ambient music and his own experiments with field recordings - always using his own analogue machines - are what led the Catalan producer to create dozens of tracks, without a clear project.

It was when it came to organising these tracks, looking for common threads between them, that Binary Phaze found a contrast of textures that ran through his tracks. Warm with cold, soft and pleasant with cutting, rough with smooth and piercing. Two types of textures and feelings, opposing yet also complementary. They turn their backs on each other throughout the record, only to embrace each other at - certain - moments. 

Two textures represented by velvet and glass. Two textures that are explored in Velvet & Glass, 50 minutes of enveloping atmospheres and meatless melodies. A summary of the emotions and feelings experienced by Binary Phaze at various moments during the three months of the creative process of putting together the record.

Beater.gr presents the premiere of Sinistro, a track from the upcoming EP "Letal" from Lucas Freire, that marks the 100th release of Devotion Records. The release will be available on September 19th in digital format. Sinistro diffuses a dark vibe into the surroundings and matches properly the name from its general texture. It consists of hard, "unwelcoming" layers and a raw aesthetic right from the start. With a sound reminiscent of warehouse dancefloors, it maintains its volume to deliver an "aggressively" danceable beat.
