Drummer/percussionist Jon Bailey sits down with "Fritz" the dummy head microphone for a series of 3D binaural explorations for drums and percussion.

In this demo, we move the head in and around the kit as Jon experiments with different sounds, colours and feels.

In 1975, a research group of the World Soundscape Project led by R. Murray Schafer made a tour and investigations of the Soundscape of five European villages (Sweden, Germany, Italy, France and Scotland). The European tour also included lectures and workshops in several major cities (see: http://www.sfu.ca/~truax/wsp.html).
On their way from Germany to Italy, they also stayed in Austria for about a week. 
Recordings were made in Salzburg and Vienna between March 15 and March 23 1975.
This year I started to re-visit and re-record their recordings.

Seventh Sense

Another bit of experimenting with a windshield covering the A/B Spaced Pair on top of the Tascam DR-07 mkII. 

Still learning with the equipment I have, but really like the feeling of space when listening with headphones. You can really hear the train moving away to the right of the soundscape.

The dance of the weedy sea dragon takes place every year in the shallow seas off the coast of Australia. During the ghostly dance, two beautifully odd-looking fish mirror each other's every movement. At the end of the ritual, the male fish is the one to get pregnant, giving birth two months later.
