BINZ On Tapestry Of Sound - 7.17.2021

Originally asked to do a livestream (Nov 11th 2021) for "The Big 45" on Twitch for the 45th Birthday of Eve Bass of Inner Worlds Productions.  I, Binz, was unable to do it because of scheduling conflicts so I asked Eve who her favorite artists/producers were and right away she said "definitely Coco Bryce".  So I said, "Ok for your birthday I'll make you an ALL Coco Bryce mix to play on the livestream".  Thats where the inspiration came from.  The result is an hour long mix of my personal favorite Coco Bryce jungle tunes along with a range of different bpms and Myor back catalogue selections.  You get a nice picture of the range of the man they call Coco Bryce.  There definitely wasn't enough time to fit in all the tunes I would like so maybe there will be a part two in the future? This session starts out dark and deep before soaking in some 93 hardcore vibes around the 35min mark. Later in the set, it’s back to the 1994 futuristic retro vibes to close things out.  For the sake of that ‘93 nostalgia, I included some Belmont Tunnel images.  For those who don’t know, in Los Angeles, the old Belmont Tunnel / Toluca substation and train yard was an epicenter for West Coast graffiti and also home to one of the earlier Jungle parties in Los Angeles circa 1993. BINZ on Attenuation Radio 019 - 6.1.2024

This edition of Attenuation Radio was an ALL Green Bay Wax special (including sub labels Lucky Muffin and The Magic 3) which is one of my all time favorite Jungle labels.  In my opinion, GBW is partially responsible (along with a handful of other labels) for the increased popularity and resurgence of the current state of Jungle in the last 10 years.  I started this session off with vinyl and some Lucky Muffin releases.  Later, I played a few off of the GBW Black Label (where all artists and titles are listed as "unknown") as well as a bunch of misc digital releases and the digital releases you ONLY received if you bought the vinyl with the original first 5 GBW plates and the first Lucky Muffin 12" .  This edition is a little heavy on the Kid Lib and ragga influence so next time I'll have to include more Darkman, Equinox, Phineus II, Dwarde, and Mr. Sensi. Maybe it will be strictly vinyl. Not sure yet. Part two definitely coming soon.  Big up all the supporters and listeners.

I tried to keep this show strictly jungle with some old school bits and remixes of classics.  Started off inna 93/94 vibe for the first third of the show with Zeldin, Tropmanga, Cheetah, & Dope On Plastic before venturing into darker realms care of Shadow Club, LQ Poynt Too, Ricky Force & Bay B Kane. Shortly after, kept it atmospheric and chill featuring Jordan Williams, Nickynutz, Fundamentals then landed back in the 90s to finally taper off with some dubby selections from Theory, Krugah and Abstract Drumz. I was super excited to play KJLA last month. Trying to go with the flow (nothing premeditated or planned), I ended up playing something for everyone while still letting the tracks breathe.  Hopping on a little before 11pm, Ivan Jahn joined me on the mic to engage and uplift the crowd of heads and homies who all came out earlier than I expected.  Big up all of you.  You the real MVPs!!
