"Tenacity" is my second release and can be streamed on your favorite service. Tenacity has been made after a rough time with lots of insecurities. However, after a long period of disciplined work and routines, I felt I was reaching a point of relief. Since that moment, I genuinely believe in tenacity, rational thinking, and staying close to your core competencies to reach your goals.

For me, the track reflects on this period, and it brings back the amalgam of emotions.

Also a supremely technically gifted sound technician, Alex creates music for film and television and could never be accused of lacking excitement. Amplifying his skills on every level, he retains the essence of emotional communication that makes his work so engaging.

“People really feel like they’ve got an emotional connection to it,” he says. “I feel like every track that I write has to resonate with me on an emotional level. If I’m not connecting with it, and it’s not evoking some kind of feeling in me then why should I expect the listener to feel that too? As we’re all made of the same kind of stuff as it’s resonating with me then hopefully it’s going resonate with other people who are listening to it as well.”

Following his second studio album, Beneath the Surface, this past Nov.12th saw Alex pilot a cataclysm of new abrasive sounds with his EP ‘Tephra’, released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint. The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression. The change of scenery brought a different intensity to Banks' sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focused dance-floor bombs....much like today's premiere.

It was somewhere in 2013, and I just played my last record. My crowd was going wild, but the fire within me extinguished. My music and I were not being one anymore. 

I stopped performing and making music for almost 4 years and started working on my fast-growing entrepreneurial career. I had to move mountains. I got betrayed and created lasting relationships. Achieved great things but also went to dark places that I never discovered. I felt scared and indestructible at the same time. 

The further my journey evolved, the more I felt the need to express my feelings and release all my tension. I got back to my old love, producing electronic music. 

Being influenced by artists like Max Cooper, Rob Clouth, Jon Hopkins, Throwing Snow, Clark & Indian Wells, I reinvented my sound. Contrasting dreamy arpeggio's with heavy synths. Glitching percussion and continues driving rhythms.  A constant tension between the dark and the enlightening. A dissimilitude between randomness and our constant urge for structure.
