Antagonist

Hailing from Manchester this shaman has had a keen interest in music since being a teenager. Having started out Djing through pirate radio at the back end of the cassette tape era in late 2004 and progressing into the club circuit around 2009. Antagonist has been building a journey for years, experimenting with various genres of music until finally setting the concrete down with the darker and cinematic side of drum&bass & electronic music. 

With a growing number of releases on R&S RECORDS, Samurai Music, and his own imprint Discipline plus a selection of other known labels, Antagonist continues his own vision of D&B and broken beats. Keeping the textures otherworldly and ethereal with an emphasis on atmospherics and grooves.

For episode 262 we are honoured by the absolute legend from Bristol; Mako. The head honcho of Utopia Music has been releasing DnB since 2007 and in that time he worked with some heavy hitters and renowned labels including Break, Marcus Intalex, DLR, Total Science, and Seba. He’s remixed the likes of Paradox, Goldie, and Teebee and in 2020 released his first solo album ‘Oeuvre’ on Metalheadz. He followed that up with his critically acclaimed album ‘Death of a Romantic’ on Samurai in 2022.

Concluding our 15 Years of Dispatch celebrations, we are headed to Australia for 3x shows and we're pleased to present an exclusive CERN mix to mark the occassion. 

The Kiwi native, now residing in Melbourne, has been huge inspiration to us on the label, ever since his first release 'Leverage / Insight' alongside Dabs in 2010. 

Encapsulating a huge amount of emotion and funk into his music, delivering groove in even the hardest forays, we were honoured to release his 'Under Another Sky' album in 2014, to a fantastic reception across the board. 

Since departing the UK, Cern is now back on the music, with a fresh Gerra & Stone collab 'Kontrol' out next week on Dispatch 100, a track with OneMind & Hydro forthcoming on Metalheadz, all the while working on his 2nd album for us at Dispatch.
