Drawing inspiration from bands like Arctic Monkeys, Violent Soho and Alt-J "Sweet" is a song written about a traveling as Danny Smith (vocals) explains “The song was written about trying to enjoy the simple pleasures of life while travelling, but having experiences coloured by depressing realities.”
 
Musically “Sweet” formed as a part of a very successful songwriting challenge as Jamie (drums) explains “Nick (lead guitar) wrote three songs in three days, two of which made it to the EP. “Sweet” soon became one the band’s favourites. Starting with a simple melancholy guitar riff, the song grew until we were happy with the structure. Then it was Danny’s lyrics that took the song from good to great. Starting was the imposing phrase, “Fly high when you leave”, Danny showed his ability to interpret Nick’s songwriting and add elements from left-field that leave the song with a distinctive 'Birdhouse' sound.”

Sweet

Time traveller is a rollicking, punch song about rage, frustration and confusion across time. The track's name came mainly from the off beat, dragging verse riff, that made us think of being dragged through years. However, with the repeated chorus line of 'marks on the heart' the disjointed anger of the verses is offset, and is meant to suggest that this rage is actually something that has emotional consequences no matter when you're living. All that said, the song is largely to punk out to.

Time Traveller

New single The Garden opens as a crooning reflection of the minuscule details in life, the track tackles a journeyed change by its climax; smashing out a final minute that would have Silent Alarm-era Russell Lissack flinging his fringe! 

"For this song we really wanted to take a risk. We were bored of the generic structure you hear in most songs. The extended version goes for around eight minutes, with three distinct sections all linking into each other," said drummer, Jamie O'Sullivan. 

"In The Garden we explore harmonies, different tempos and a different emotion through each section, ending with that inspiring outro," continued O'Sullivan.

Lyrically, The Garden is an amalgamation of the lost feelings you feel through life; the feeling to run, or to hide, the feeling of love and especially the feeling of being lost.

"The Garden is about lots of things for me. On one hand, the lyrics talk about a lonely character convincing themselves that they're better off alone. More broadly, its about confusion and unexpressed states of consciousness yearning for something more," said vocalist, Danny Smith.
