Andrea and Pete Connolly have written their lives into the new album. Inspired by their bucolic surroundings, Coyotes was recorded at their small, 19th-century, schoolhouse turned cabin nestled in the woods on an 88 acre horse farm near Durham, NC. The band worked with an impressive cast of local and national talent to create Coyotes. Robert Sledge of Ben Folds Five, Dirk Shumaker of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and James Wallace of Mount Moriah are just a few of the special guests that where involved in the making of this record. Produced and mixed by Chris Stamey of the dBs, Coyotes promises to be Birds andArrows’ best effort as a band to date. Stamey describes the album as "An amazing record, overflowing with invention, dedication and exuberance.”This new group of songs on Coyotes embrace the original folk spirit of Birds and Arrows, combined with the confidence and experience in songwriting that comes from playing music together for over seven years. The wistful and nostalgic "Firefly" (the album's opening track) evokes memories of youth, first love, and the scars of rejection that resonate with everyone throughout a lifetime. 
The group formed in 2007 by wife and husband, Andrea and Pete Connolly, who released two critically acclaimed EPs, Birds and Arrows and Woodgrain Heart. In 2009, they released their first full-length record Starmaker, which was picked by the Independent Weekly as the “Album 
of the Month.” In 2011, Birds and Arrows released its second full-length record We’re Gonna Run, which was revered by Independent Weekly’s music editor, Grayson Currin as “the best moment of the band’s career, a promise that they’ve got real range.” 

Frank Stasio of NPR/WUNC's The State of Things noted, “The honeymoon sweetness of their earlier work has been replaced with a maturity and depth appropriate for musicians whose lives and work are gaining seriousness and acclaim.” 

Over the years, Birds and Arrows have developed a rich sound that is much more than the sum of their parts. The romance between Andrea and Pete's voices is distinctly captivating and they accomplish an elegant, warm sound that is truly their own. Coyotes

“Astrology has always kinda pissed me off,” muses singer/songwriter Andrea, half of Tucson-based folk/rock duo Birds and Arrows. “But I’m sure there are people thinking, ‘That’s such a Gemini thing to say!’”

Since their inception 16 years ago, Birds and Arrows–aka married artists Andrea and Pete Connolly–have taken their Southwestern-tinged folk-rock on tour across the USA. They’ve been featured on compilations with the likes of Wilco, Big Star, Yo La Tengo, and Whiskeytown, shared the stage with bands like The Mountain Goats, Dr. Dog, Lisa Marie Presley, XIXA, Black Mountain, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, and Big Star, and they were voted “Best Rock Band in Tucson” in 2021 by the readers of Tucson Weekly.

Their upcoming album, Electric Bones–out August 5th, 2022 on Hookworm Records–is a collection of thoughtful compositions, 70’s groove, classic folk-rock, and stellar vocals reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac. “The creation of Electric Bones comes from a defiant, confident and incredulous place,” says Pete, drummer, vocalist, and multimedia artist who also created the album cover. “We never attempt to second guess our writing and creativity based on what we think people want to hear.”
