DJ Harley Beretta's guest mix on this episode is totally sick. Harley is really blowing up with appearances on the SiriusXM channels of Pitbull and Eminem. For us to have her do guest mixes is special as her take on Progressive House music one again adds flavor and uniqueness. Her world-class scratching and blends sound so dope intertwined in Prog. Check her expertise displayed as she adds raw flash when she feels it and lays low to the let the music make its natural impact when necessary. This is elite Progressive House presented in an all-new thrilling, almost experimental way. We're not implying that Progressive House music has to have this type of sound, we're just elated to show that it so wonderfully can. 

I had the honor of curating these tracks for Harley and she made magic. The scratching at timecode (03:12)on Bee Hunter is legendary.  I'll put Harley's scratching in that spot up against any DJ in any genre of music out right now. The blend into "Clumsy" is delicious. And for the second straight episode she goes head-to-head with the genius that is Avoure with her insanely on-beat scratching. You have to hear it to believe it.  

The blend into "Cascade" is smooth AF. That song sounds so good in this mix too. Her momentum increases but the blends and scratching stay impeccable thru the incredible songs "Slowbot.exe" and "Holler." Next the hard-driving incredible songs by Deeparture, Findike and Kamilo Sanclemente & Zalvador are straight power moves.

The song "LGBT" was an exciting find and it really helped bridge the in-the-mix switch to more traditional and beautiful Melodic Progressive House tracks from Druce/Emro, Lumidelic, Jay Hubbard and Eleve. Harley took us out with some amazing work on the thumping beats of Vihannga and Operandum.

Yes it's been a while since our last episode but this works out because my theory is "Live It. Own It. Write It." I have to absorb myself fully as a journalist and fan into Progressive House music, the artists who create it, the DJs who showcase it, and other fans just like you that love it.  That's what we do for the best show possible.  It's all about building a connection to you that is authentic and pure. If you're listening to this show I want you to feel like we're friends hanging out discussing this music and jamming out to it. 

DJ Harley Beretta is back for this episode. She is an emerging star and this is her 3rd outstanding mix for us. It sounds so amazing. Harley is experimental and creative in her approach and we work well together because so am I. We have uniqueness in the music we play and words we say.  There is no show in the world like Bird's Ear View.

Josh Wilcox is an extremely talented in-studio producer and joins me in the 2nd hour for a very cool in-depth discussion about Progressive House,  Underground Dance Music and the world of being a DJ.

Here Mark Farina goes all out strictly for the love of the music, his fellow DJs and House music devotees all over the world. The mix is classic Farina: funky, catchy and smart. Vocals are there to keep you emotionally invested along the way as you dance and bob your head to the exciting beats. His signature perfect blends are so smooth and polished you realize you are listening to something special. The mix conjures up memories of his splendid San Francisco Sessions Vol. 1 effort of the late 1990’s and other faves throughout his storied career.

#MixClub is a community effort and radio show. It’s a collective of DJs and house music fans that is open to everyone to enjoy and participate. Each week a different DJ is featured. Typically the DJs are working pros, skilled hobbyists and even bedroom enthusiasts. While the mix airs, people (DJs & fans) from all over the world communicate at the Twitter hashtag #MixClub to network, exchange ideas, promote, make friends and pepper each other with questions and comments. In reality it’s been a small but growing community. So it was a major coup for us to land Mark Farina, and all thanks for doing so goes to #MixClub alum The Science Funk Project. Mark received no compensation for this mix and little publicity. He participated solely just to be part of the cool vibe that The Science Funk Project rightly presented it as. Mark already had everyone’s respect, but for him to do our little-known show out of the goodness of his heart and love of the music was so cool. This background info is as pure as it sounds, and as pure genius as the mix is too.

The tracks are so amazing and the talent of the Producers & DJs who created them is off the hook. Then you have the truly outstanding job here by Host & DJ MickeyTheMoocher. Plus I got off writing the script and vibe I wanted to create and you know my track curation is legendary of course.

Yet it was the rap group Public Enemy who warned:

Classic Rock is a love of mine. I don't know it like I know Underground Dance Music, but growing up in the 1970s & 80s I just lived Rock&Roll like every kid did. I'm a huge fan of Steve Rees and he hosts a really cool Classic Rock podcast put out by my company Bird's Ear View. This is the 2nd episode and it just came out. Me and Steve went to NYC this past weekend to record this show and it was so amazing just to hang out and collab. For this episode I got the opportunity to curate the tracks. You'll hear The Who, The Doors, The Kinks, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, The Police and much much more. These were jams that made a big impact on me coming up in suburbia.
