“I don’t consider myself a DJ, though I’ve always loved the art form. Other than the very few occasions I have played records for an audience, I usually approach mixes like I would have private mixtapes back in the day: my tapes were always themed and included selections of music I was listening to, both old and new, as well as a few of my own tracks. I would often make a short track specifically for the mixtape, after I had already put most of the playlist together. Wroclaw based producer lines up SPLOT’s label debut with deers by bess. Directed at experimental-bass club contexts and soundsystem culture, it represents a wide range of fresh UK sounds, from deep dubstep, grime tropes to heavy breaks. Opening up with napar; dubwise sensibility combined with wobble bass, eerie pads and unsettling low-end melodies. indecisive soundboy is a real chaos, where squashed ragga breaks meet glitched forms and dread bass. manta keeps things meditative and creates the great deep of the EP. bonfire presents a truly climactic workout, opening to a raw space of natural samples and overdriven textures. Finishing with deers by bess, which brings together sleepy ambiance and menacing melodies. deers by bess drops on Friday, June 3rd via SPLOT.

More Rice is pleased to announce their first digital only release and a first from MiNcho, a collaborative project between Vietnam residents Mishouju and Sancho.

A stripped down EP, the mood and tone for the opening track Poeben is set by the vocals which also effortlessly glues all the other elements together. MiNcho are able to create depth through the clever use of their limited instruments, whereby the elements are complimenting each other well. For the second track, Some Sounds, as the title suggests, has a minimalistic and a dubby feel accompanied by a groovy key bassline made for the dancefloor. 

This EP comes with a remix of Poeben by DOTT.
