I got on my bike today and made a spontaneous mix honoring of Albert Hofmann's  magnificent moment in history, 80 years ago so (L)et's (S)tart(D)ancing!
This global psychedelicatessen of elevating, knotty, percolating, pulsing and squidgy bassliness is woven with a smorgasbord of flavor. Low-end basscapades, traditional horn lines and global soundplay all meet up with  the skank and stutter of dub reggae vibes while they mesmerizingly entangle with psychedelic sound design. Traversing the aural landscapes of Akytra lends itself to a thrilling psychedelic adventure from start to finish.

My first mix in about a year, Akytra has developed over several huge shifts in my personal life, the most significant of which was losing my dog in June. It's been a rough year and this mix reflects a lot of that darkness.

As always, I take pride in crafting non-traditional, non-conventional mixes that meld into something somehow greater than the sum of their parts. This mix is no exception and drifts between psychill, downtempo, psydub, idm, ambient, and glitch-dub, with tastes ranging drastically between ethno-tribal, atmospheric metal, breaks, classical, and a few other tricks up my sleeve as always.

I feel like this mix has accurately captured the current state of my very being. I took a lot of risks in this one that have paid off beautifully, as this is my favorite mix I've made thus far in my DJ career. This shit is lit. I promise.

@DesertDwellers  is the convergence of music producers Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, who honed their individual crafts in the mystical deserts of California and New Mexico, long before electronic music reached mainstream. Birds of Paradise is California-born producers Torin Goodnight (Bird of Prey) and Tyler Gibson (Gibson).  Since their debut in 2011, they have traveled the world, playing main stage at many of the biggest and best electronic music festivals.  Having a similar aesthetic but still maintaining an individual approach, they combine forces in a symbiotic project to work towards a common vision and master the art of collaboration.  The duo plays to its strengths- patience, beauty, and depth to offer a truly original sound of rolling percussive breakbeats, progressive melodies, incredible sound design and twisted psychedelic layers.
