3 QUESTIONS to ANII:

Q: You recently signed to KOMPAKT. A dream became true?

A: Haha - well, I feel like I’m dreaming. I didn’t only just sign to Kompakt, I feel like I found a new home for myself and my music. The entire Kompakt team has been so wonderful. I feel extremely lucky and very excited for what will come in 2018.

Q: Tell us about your selection. How did these tracks find the way to your heart once?

A: This was way more fun to put together than expected. I ended up recording precisely 100 minutes for your no. 100 series which I thought was pretty cool as I didn't intend to do it. I put my set together in a way to present my journey from 1998 all the way through to my first release on Making You Dance Records (as Ańii) from early 2016. This gave me the opportunity to go back in time which brought back a ton of memories! I hope that after listening to my set that you will understand a bit more about me.

Q: Which Anii projects are coming this year?

A: I’m taking it slow for the time being as I am very excited about my first Kompakt 12" EP which is out in March and already working on another release for them. Right now I am doing a remix for a really cool Indie band Cults which should be out in late-January.

A special B2B with my boy Bacon at the High Tea virtual festival over the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

It was an absolute treat playing for a small crew at home and a larger crew online. Feel like this set sums out our vibe pretty damn well.

Thanks to all the other artists that contributed to the day and to Bacon for bringing the heat with me for a few hours. That was a lot of fun!

The new release on Wizarding Wolf by label owner Juliane Wolf combines disco feeling with today's progressive vibes. With two great remixes by Weird Sounding Dude and Sean McClellan a variety of sounds is created that will please listeners with different musical preferences.

Juliane Wolf’s original track is a mix between retro drums and tape strings mixed with progressive beats. Various arps and chord progressions are adding a touch of melancholy.

+biri is a house+techno+hip hop DJ from the Southside of Chicago, USA, and currently lives in San Fransisco/Bay Area, California.

+biri is also co-founder of Hyde & Sikh, a production collective and BurningMan sound camp.

+biri believes in shaping sounds for the dance floor with conviction around mood-setting and stories for the dancers. Constantly learning and digging for music, he has a wide range in styles and is at ease curating tracks across various genres. 

Originally from India, his early dance music influences come from collecting disco vinyl in the 70s in Sydney, Australia. +biri also performed traditional Punjabi bhangra as a teen in India and thrived on early hip hop and the local house music scene on the South Side of Chicago in the 80s. In college, he curated and produced radio shows and experienced the techno, trance, and electronica rave scene around the US and Europe in the 90s.

+biri has been lucky to open for and play alongside artists like Atish, Doc Martin, Eva-Be, John Tejada, Monolink, Nico Stojan, Luca Bacchetti, and Spesh.  He has played at the Brooklyn Mirage (NYC), Burning Man-Black Rock City, Qool Happy Hour (SFO) and Listed PLAY (SFO/NYC) parties, as well as clubs in Atlanta, Berlin (Watergate), Las Vegas (Light), SFO (PublicWorks/Harlot), and Stockholm.
