Trulz Kvam and Robin Crafoord (of Dance Disorder fame) form together norvegian electronic duet Trulz & Robin. Their first EP for Marketing Music is made of two very different piece of music : “Vibrating Cook” which is a play between drum programming and voice sampling and “Exotic Fruit” which is a more straight up techno affair. On the remix front we have another production team, this time from Budapest, known as Biscuit Reality. Their take on Vibrating Cook is a powerful indie-tinged dance music number.

Fine Cut Bodies - Dinner With Murdoch(Traim Edition)

This four piece remix single is the forerunner of a series that intends to cover the complete Cadik catalogue on Chi Recordings. 'Relax' is taken from the album 'Travel Agency' that delivers a fine selection of numbers in a classic electronic hip-hop approach. 

The original track loosens pure and banging beats, operating with playful melodies, and warm analog sounds instead, getting in fine balance with the rough voice of the cooperating Dynamite MC.

The self-marked remix of Modul turns up the neurotic and hip-hop factor, tops it up with scratch and 8-bit layers, while showing off sleek glitch technique.

The genre bender Dizko Stu remix steps up to funk level, with classy organ riffs, chased by freestyle bass rolls, leaving a slight taste of acid on the tongue. Right after this DJ Madd takes us to a pleasingly static, somewhat creepy atmosphere, finishing down the pace to dubstep.

Cadik feat. Dynamite Mc - Relax (Modul remix)

Yet another unusual recording hits the surface on Chi. Chris Plastic of Hungarian experimental electronica duo Magamura is now launching his standalone project under the moniker Eril Fjord. M O N D O K A (nursery rhyme) is an off-dancefloor material, more of a contemporary composer experiment inspired by impressions recalled from childhood, embedded in to a present context. Each peace - apart from the constant rustling sound of a powder covered pickup on dad's turntable - sounds from a slight distance of time and space, getting the listener to wander along with the music on an unrealistic journey.

Now we're gonna put you in the picture with Zomblaze - the energetic new contestant at Chi's stable - listing a random selection of his instinctive period, looking back on few years. He hit the road in Nyíregyháza, Hungary as a promoter, and soon made his way to the Budapest hip-hop scene in 2006, and took part in some notable productions with local core elements as a beatmaker.

Before you get to the present Zomblaze phenomenon, meet him on his way to consciousness, one step back in time. The three pieces of Machinstruments Vol.1. EP shows tribute to most music genres of his taste - such as glitch-hop, dubstep, electronica - besides the fundamental abstract hip-hop.

'Balkan Kannibalizm' and 'Mind Op' are proper hip-hop sounds, both sharing robust blustering baselines, and electronic intonation, souped up with cuts of voices, or gently streaming background suite.
'Out' is a bit different with its moderate pace. It is built from samples cut from old vinyls, enriched with scratch sounds, showing off a nice wide inventory of hip-hop, that is used properly in all three tracks...
Zomblaze's been through some changes since then, that Machinstruments Vol.2. will reveal next time.

Chi Recordings fans might have seen Kodek turning up on our releases quite regularly.
He has already gifted us with some remarkable reworks for AMB, Fine Cut Bodies, or The Gomb project, and with some of his own, on Cup Of Chi series, for instance. He often pops up around the country to entertain his people, so we could hardly wait for the right time to go in details with him. We took three shiny little pearls for his EP on CHI, three different manifestation of one taste.

‘Ultraviolet Dreams’ starts out with an atmospheric electronica track, that ejects you in to a reverberant wider space. By the metallic sound it is like if melancholic machines were sighing while in the break of a glitchy conversation, in ‘Golden Field’. The mood is driven further by the overlaying melodies, the warm classy sound synths, and the morphed, sequenced, bent, and filtered details also fills in nicely.

‘Fckstp’ seems like a personal reflection to dubstep music, a little flip to the genre, and this track is beyond the standards. The tools and instruments are similar to the ones used in all three pieces on the EP, only some heavier bass, and playful bubbling were added.

The EP ends with ‘Kinda Track’, another electronica, that fits well in the line with its wicked throb, sound and concept, leaving us no doubt about we have found some quality approach to music again.

The foundation of Biscuit Reality dates back in history to two workmates both with a solid background in food manufacture. After sharing the same office for almost a decade at a legendary confectionery manufacturer, they suddenly realised they had something curious in common. Not only did they walk around the same bit of carpet every day, they also seemed to share a secret obsession for biscuit production. Satisfying their passion and hunger for biscuits soon made them one of the most talked-about workers at the company, which they put down to hard work, others to stealing biscuits from the company warehouse. After being made redundant - a direct result to a scandalous incident involving excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs, and biscuits - they took yet another step towards the creation of Biscuit Reality. Getting left by their wives enabled them to contemplate the idea of sharing a flat, which completed the ingredient-list to launching their own biscuit manufacturing business from their flatshare. Unfortunately though, due to financial issues and the fact that they had no technical equipment other than a personal computer, they decided to get into music-making instead.
    
To their own amazement, they soon found their tunes picked up by labels like  Mothership, Resopal Schallware, Chi Recordings, ... check back here for new pieces of biscuits!
