EPISODE 2 OF "THE RANSOM" SERIES: TAKE ME HOME

After receiving the demands from his daughter's captors, knowing he cannot provide what they are after, he uses the clues from the call to track them down, not before becoming, once again, what he swore he would never become again: A hitman for hire known only as Vigil.  With only his family knowing his secret, and being safe from the mob for years after abandoning that life, he dons his alter-ego once more, this time to save his daughter, Mazie.  Meanwhile, while Vigil is working his way through his daughter's captors at the old iron works factory by the train yard, Mazie can hear the commotion outside the room she is being held, and realizes her father has found her.  However, Mazie overhears that they are going to be moving her, and worse, that they know who her father is.  Knowing her fathers secret, and that this new location is where that secret died, she scribbles an innocuous, cryptic message in the notepad she has been drawing in, hoping it will go unnoticed.  Terrified, battered from resisting her initial capture, and afraid she will never make it home again, all she can do is hope this last ditch effort to keep the trail warm stays, and that her father survives the assault to find her clue and eventually take her home.  Before they come for her to move her again, she learns a chilling revelation that her capture was no coincidence, and was merely a means to flush out Vigil.  The leader, who the men call Mercury, explains to Mazie before he moves her that he has big plans for her and her father, but what he does not count on is the resilience of this little girl, the bond her and her father share, and that they both harbor an indomitable will.

Episode 1 of "The Ransom" Series: The Ransom

Fearing the worst, further fueled by signs of a struggle on the way to his little girl’s room, a father is greeted only with a very conspicuous folded piece of paper on the floor. Opening the note, instinctively knowing what it is, the mother quickly enters from behind as the father is reading it. She too knows what it is, and is unable to close the distance, for avoidance of having her fears realized. The note, written by their daughter, stuns the father with a demand he cannot meet, threatening a cost he cannot pay. Per the note, the authorities can’t be notified, or she’ll die: he must meet their demands on his own. In this dilemma, the father is confronted with an option to take matters in his own hands, driven by an obscure clue left behind by his daughter’s captors. However, doing so will cause him to revisit a dangerous past her captors did not anticipate, and force him to become something he swore off long ago, setting off a chain of events he will never be able to run from again…
