Angel In Chains

Finding your sound as a musician is a long and hard journey. We have been making music together for almost 10 years now, whether it was with our garage rock band or as music producers. We have experimented with everything from dubstep to moombahton and after years of searching we think we are starting  to get close to finding our true sound. That is what Explorers is about. For all those times we had to fight the uphill battle with writers block and self doubt, for all those time we chose to make what we truly loved and not just what was trendy at the moment. This track is very special to us and it is dedicated to all those musicians out there trying to find their sound. Keep going and always stay true to yourself. #wearesolstis

I went on a road trip after graduating from university this past summer and it was on this trip that I had initially came up with the chord structure and melody for this tune. Inspired by summer days in L.A. and ocean waves, Aubren and I wrote Escape founded on the principals of taking risks and trying something new with the people you love in order to achieve something more than our socially constructed confines. We might make mistakes along the way, but we can escape.

I was (and still am) absolutely tired of hearing the same sound repeated so I decided to try and make something different and push myself.

this track was such a whirlwind in creation between getting the vocals in the 11th hour (which somehow fit better than anyone could have hoped for) and having it finished in 6 days.

After being a fan of @aviella-winder for a while she sent me the demo that has since turned into this record. it has gone through so many different versions during the 7 months we've been working on it that we even ended up making an acoustic.

I managed to finish this idea by leaving it for a few weeks without listening to it or working on it. A fresh pair of ears when I came back helped me create within something that wasn't finished in the first place. I never used to work well like this but every track on this EP has been finished this way.
