Formed in Leeds, written in London and finished in Berlin under the influence of Ewan Pearson, their debut album 'Graspers' will be released on the 22nd January 2016 and available here: https://K7.lnk.to/AKASEGraspers They had this to say about their mix;

Over the past 18 months, London based DJ Marc Hasler has slowly grown his reputation both as a successful resident and also as guest DJ across the country. Comfortable to take the limelight with peak time chug and synthwave, he undeniably excels when taking the reins early doors. With gigs last year sharing the same event space as ALFOS, Man Power and Tronik Youth, he has further festival slots lined up for the summer. We asked him to submit a fresh start to the week selection, and he did not disappoint.

After a relaxing winter sojourn spent on his yacht (moored off the Gibraltan coast, near Skegness), he had his PA reach out to us with, faxing us two mixtapes. Melbourne mind technician Kris Baha has up until now sat at the back of the Australian phalanx that has besieged the Northern hemisphere dance community. 
Over the past 6 months however Kris has come to the fore showcasing a muscular mid-tempo club sound drawing from EBM, Industrial and Dub traditions. 
As overlord of Melbourne club institution Power Station Kris is a gifted DJ as demonstrated within this 2 hour mix that moves from Coil through mutant strains of house, new wave and synth pop.

Mix Number 11 in the Sinchi & Friends series is @cabaretnocturne . We've been huge fans of his music for some time, so we're excited to have him involved in the series. What we've learnt though, is he's not just a talented DJ and producer but a bit of a legend of the Belgian scene! So take a listen, read below and get to know the awesome Raphael / Cabaret Nocturne.

1)Introduce yourself?
My name is Raphael and I live in the country of the new beat. This musical universe has fascinated me since a very young age. I  remember at the age of 10, I hid under my bed with my radio ghetto blaster listening to independent broadcasts late into the night. At 12, I started to buy my first vinyl (I have more than 10,000 today) and organized very quickly my first parties in the basement of a friend. It was amazing! We did most of our first night owls experiences ... One thing leading to another, from the mid-90s, I organized / co-organized parties in many Belgian clubs (Fuse, Café d'Anvers, Culture Club, Who’s Who’s Land ...) with some artists such as Andrew Weatherall, Damian Lazarus, Juan Atkins, DJ Hell, Mandy, D’Julz, MyMy … I also founded and directed the 'Digitalk FM' radio show. Our goal was to highlight the Belgian electronic scene by inviting promising DJs and producers as well for interviews, as dj sets or lives. In 8 years we have had the pleasure of welcome incredibly guests that are better know today under their names as Mugwump, The Magician, Aeroplane ... At the same time, the need to produce has naturally manifested and great guys like Eric Beysens (formerly resident of Bocaccio), Kolombo or Jean Vanesse (Spirit Catcher) have greatly helped me in the quest for this learning. After some testing and 10 good years, I finally decided to start my own project Cabaret Nocturne.

2)How would you describe your sound?
Early I was fascinated by Italo-disco, new wave and new-beat but my standards are non-formulaic. DJ Mag described my sound as fusions of '80s pop, dark basslines, house beats and unhinged since the mid-noughties but in my case I did not want my music to be identified with a style. What matters to me is to share an emotion.

3)What are your plans for 2016?
This year has already started well with the release of my 'Blood Walk' EP on Beachcoma - the label founded by Fairmont, Sid Le Rock and Metope. I have a big respect for these 3 guys! They have an incredible talent and are very professional. Last month, Rotten City has also released a remix by Jonathan Kusuma of my track "Blind Trust" released last November. Mid-May, I get out a new EP on the Spanish label Factor City. Undo (FC owner) and Heretic were asked to reinterpret the original tracks. I am very excited by this release and really looking forward to explore the public's feedback. In the coming months will follow another EP on the English label Nein and several remixes.

Sinchi & Friends 11 - Cabaret Nocturne


I’d not heard of Will Samson until a few months ago when I stumbled across his beautiful 2015 release on French imprint Talitres, the wonderful ‘Ground Luminosity’. It’s a beautiful mesh of sounds, oceans of ambient swells set against soft vocals, delicate acoustic instrumentation and cascading electronic percussion. The strength of the record (which features contributions from Benoit Pioulard and Michael Feuerstack) left me kind of surprised that I hadn’t heard about him before. I spoke to Will about collaborating as I had figured here was a producer with eclectic tastes and somebody who could add something different to our mixtape series.

Will has put together a chronological look back at his musical past charting the period from 2010 to the present day. In his excellent Métron Musik Mixtape we are treated to the evolution of Samson’s sound, set alongside his shifting musical influences during those periods. Will described the process of selecting tracks for this mix as like looking back through an old diary, and it’s clearly been a fruitful creative period.

Featuring plenty of his own work, including his recent collaborations with Tom Demac and Sei A, as well as a ton of great releases from his peers, past and present, it’s a fantastic retrospective that showcases Will’s diverse sound and excellent songwriting. It’s a selection of tracks full of melancholy and rich in ambient textures, interlaced with energetic and upbeat moments.

Mixzzzzzzztape 33 by Harmony Horizon

Late March saw the arrival of a very intriguing release on the below radar record label, Art Of Memory, founded by Nico Purman. Since 2013 the label has acted as a platform for the Argentinian born, Berlin based artist to capture ears with his experimental take on electronics and avant garde soundscapes. His latest release AOM002.2 is his third outing on his own imprint and the record sees him explore the spaces between techno, electro and ambient works. We caught up with Nico Purman to talk Argentinian roots and asked him to contribute to our Monday mix series.

Here's something a bit different that i've been working on for the past couple of years. At some point the mix kind of seemed like one of those things that i wouldnt stop changing, based solely on the fact that i'm always waiting for new music and ways to improve the mix. This however was turning out to be an endless cycle. Yesterday i decided to finish it just as it is. Hopefully it made the right call :)
