The second part of the FORTE Remixes of Pan-Pot’s critically acclaimed collection of singles from 2023 is a sonic journey of reworks by four remarkable remixers: Reinier Zonneveld, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Ramon Tapia and Nojre, each reimagining Pan-Pot's iconic tracks with their unique flair.

Reinier Zonneveld's remix of "UTOPIA" immerses listeners in a fusion of classical finesse and relentless techno essence. Infusing the track with epic melodies and pounding warehouse beats, Zonneveld crafts a mesmerizing experience, presenting what he’s best known for. Mysterious lead intertwine with a gummy bassline, while a deep male vocal commands the break, culminating in a tension-filled drop. Following, Sama Abdulhadi's remix of "PROTO" pulses with a psytrance-like energy, showcasing her distinctive perspective as the first Palestinian DJ on the international stage. Playful rhythms merge with hypnotic basslines, accompanied by intriguing modulated vocals and dynamic rally car sounds. The third remix is by Ramon Tapia, who returned to Second State after his track on the prestigious SUM series, delving into the darker shadows of techno with his rework of "PROTO". Haunting lead melodies and deep male vocals resonate amidst siren wails and crunchy percussion, building tension before the explosive drop. Industrial- like percussions and a stomping kick drive the track create an immersive, atmospheric experience. Closing the chapter is Nojre's rework of "CORE“. The young producer, who recently had his debut EP on Second State, blurres the lines between techno and house, delivering a quintessential techno cut with melodic percussive basslines and dominant leads. Next up on Kuukou is a balanced 2-tracker from JAM, Leclub and Pan-Pot affiliate Lucas Aguilera. 

Originally born in Argentina, Aguilera has never shied away from brutal sonics with his records and DJ sets being notorious for packing a particular punch. Recall X carries this signature weight and menace whilst also providing versatility and variation.

'Highway To Hell' kicks off with unparalleled malevolence. A pneumatic kick drills down at the base of the track while contorted vocals punctuate trips down dark, demonic wormholes. Deftly plotted stabs keep things kinetic and groovy but the tension doesn't let up...this is pure bassbin destruction. 

'Recall X' then offers a flip-side to the coin. More dubby in style, the groove slowly stretches out as shuffling toms rub shoulders with sunken submarine signals. Cleverly mapped percussion dances in infectious polyrhythms while filters work to keep the tension partially submerged. A perfect DJ tool for maintaining buoyancy.

Lucas Aguilera - Highway To Hell

Boom Merchant is back on his record label Tribal Pulse with a tantalising techno EP that has dark atmosphere.
It's been a nonstop year for Boom Merchant who continues to release driving techno tracks that combine intense energy and infectious hooks. Originally from Ireland, and currently based in Mexico, he has been galvanising support from techno fans across the northern hemisphere.
Tribal Pulse is a record label that Boom Merchant frequents with his own music, but he has also released on other record labels ranging from LaLa's Brand New Records to T78's Autektone.
"Suena Bien" is the EP's title track, and it layers cascading melodies with the churning drum rhythms that are trademark to Boom Merchant's style. It's a mesmerising track that leads you down the rabbit hole with its trippy vibe.
"Sparkle" has the crunching tones of lo-fi percussion combining with an acid house piano riff and gospel vocals reminiscent of Robert Hood's Floorplan alias. It's a standout track combining uplifting elements with the ruthless intensity of a moody groove.
"Fourth Wind" has a hammering kick drum and plinking percussion layered with a throbbing bassline. It has gritty textures that loop to give the track a hypnotic groove with a relentless momentum that subsides only for a short breakdown section.
"Red Sun Dub" has sparkling textures washing over pounding drums that lay a foundation for a hands in the air synth line with old-school vibes and hard dance undertones. The breakdown introduces an angelic vocal that complements the subtle euphoria of the lead synth.
