Solar Flux - Galaxy Evolution EP

This track is dedicated to my amazing dad - you are now part of the universe - and i'm sure it's as incredible as you taught me. 

Much like the Galaxy Evolution EP, the concept for Argonaut is a broadening of the idea of growth and expansion - glamorising the notion that sentient energy may exist in or around our galaxy. 

Argonaut is a nuclear term, derived from the word Argo - or "Argonauts", who were a band of heroes in Greek mythology. This track centres around the notion of creating nano-bots that are marginally larger than electrons that fight disease and infection inside the body, or in other organic matter. 

The track is both chaotic and dauntless, a juxtaposition to enact the fight these little robots would have with malignant cells.

There's a stasis leak on-board and the Quarantine chamber has been breached. Hold on to your seats - Bacterium takes you on a gritty, metallic joyride - then dumps you in the endless stretches of deep space.

It's the not so distant future - welcome to this Utopian metropolis, where no riots or government conformity can any longer rule a chaotic social order. 

Yūtopia is a trendy, problem-free place - where elevators don't malfunction, trees don't drop leaves in the street and where teenage androids wear ironic symbols of the past as trendy fashion accessories. 

This track is actually a delayed release. Some of you may know that I had lined up another track that was due for release a few months ago, "The Great Filter". Due to family complications with my dad being terminally ill, I have put off the release of The Great Filter, and wrote Yūtopia in favor of a more clean and positive momentum. I just needed to put myself in a happy head-space, as these are really hard times for my dad and my family.

Microtropolis is track 1 of the upcoming 3 track Hyper Reality EP.

This track is dedicated to my amazing dad - you are now part of the universe - and i'm sure it's as incredible as you taught me. 

Glitchcentric pixelated neon skyscrapers glow over an endless horizon. Digitized commuters carry on their monotonous, brainless lives in the sky and on the ground. Everything is vibrant, every pixel block is polished to perfection - a tiny digital city crested with specular highlights and retro stamina.

If you dipped Sonic The Hedgehog into liquid metal and dropped him into a running jet engine this is what you'd get. Infuse yourself in the Microtropolis.

This track is a metaphor, like many of my others. It's the first track that I composed after losing my dad 2 months ago. I needed to keep myself upbeat.

Zephyr is a new-age melodic dubstep/complextro track that is absolutely packed with dynamic charm, percussive interludes that'll throw your heart rate out, and harmonious melodic combos that'll take your mind soaring through the sky - and prop all of your inner thoughts onto little cloud pillows...then it'll drag you through a rough storm briefly before mellowing out and leaving you energized and motivated. Try Zephyr yourself.

Side note: There was a track in production that people are familiar with that was due for release last month - Hydrazine. The release of this track has been cancelled until further notice. It may be released as a B-side in the foreseeable future.

This track is submitted as an entry to the Triple J's (Australian National Radio) Playschool Competition. I have also created an animated music video for this track that is currently in negotiations with ABC Music Publishing.

For those of you who don't already know, Little Ted mysteriously disappeared from the Playschool set in 1973, and the original toy was actually never seen again. This gave me a great idea to theme this track and illustrate the tale of the stunning, surreal and marvelous things that Little Ted might have seen while he was on his adventures away from the set over the years leading up to the present. 

I grew up with Playschool and have always held it dear to my heart - so the opportunity to compose this was inevitable when I heard about it on Triple J. I watched a lot of archived Playschool footage leading up to the composition of this track - I ended up recording my own Rocketclock "countdown" lyrics myself to incorporate into the track.  I recorded many miscellaneous and unique drum sounds with my H2Zoom mic, which are featured very prominently in the track as original percussion. 

Indulge in Playschool Through The Ages... trail the rough terrain of sharp percussive interludes, vapory synth pads and chords, mellow piano riffs, jagged frequency modulated bass sounds and choppy, discordant vocals.

Imperials are the sacred spirits of the water, that lurk in luminous numbers and attract lost souls to confide in them. They were once living royalty, common folk, and even machines. These reincarnated souls are eternally basking in the depths. Sometimes a stray Naut will see their glow over the horizon and take refuge in their warmth during the cold seasons. Decommissioned or stray war machines sometimes find enough forgiveness in the world to overcome their fierce nature, and there's known to be a lucky few machines that have become an imperial.

This track was started months ago, and like the other 4 tracks that i've completed in the last five months, has been waiting it's turn for release. Finally!!

A lonesome hero struggles to overcome strict regulations that are imposed by a post-apocalyptic governing force. 

The short film/music video is an absolutely essential part of the Auroras project. I created this project over several months - it holds a lot of subtle nuances as it's more of a metaphor for grief masked as a cute little short film. If anybody is interested in exactly how I created this, from the music composition to the character design, to the animation to bringing it all to life, i'm considering releasing a "making of" video - so if I get enough requests, i'll put it together.

Exospores - Powerful microbes that take host of stray comets, and hitch a ride to the nearest unlucky planet. Once airborne they infiltrate the landscapes, suffocating life as we know it, and forcing an apocalyptic reign upon us all.

I think there's something really beautiful about chaos - it's experienced in the moment more than a lot of other things. If we were running for our lives from a giant swarm of deadly bacteria, we probably wouldn't bother to get out our smart phones and film it - not if we knew that the social platforms we've relied on for the past decade wouldn't exist anymore. We are forced to live in survival mode. That's what Exospore is about. I wrote this track because I wanted to experiment with expressions of chaos and beauty in combination with one and other, and force them to overlap. Like it does in the natural cycle of life. Enjoy.

Glimmer - on the cusp of an extinct planet system, a white dwarf star has had a mass solar ejection which will in turn devastate all familiar life. It's a beautiful, strange event. Most life will witness such an event over the course of several days, as this star system is hugely farther away from the host planet. Can life prevail beyond such a rare, powerful circumstance?

Mortal Kombat 2 is my all time favourite in the series. I'm proud to present this video as a homage to all of the beautiful artwork, level design, characters and music that was created for this game. What an outstanding, timeless classic!

I used sprites and screenshots of the game to extrude various components to archive this effect. The process has taken me over 2 months of hard work to complete. I tried to included as many MK2 goodies for all of you long time fans too - enjoy!

Thank you to the developers of this game (Ed Boon and John Tobias - and don't forget Dan Forden's incredible soundtrack) for creating a timeless masterpiece.
