A collaboration between friends and life long enthusiasts of breakbeat and rave music in all its various forms, Brent Aquasky (Amen Brother/Vinyl Fanatiks) and Damo B (Emotec/Outta Limits) are the players behind AmenTec.

An imprint dedicated to the cross pollination of artists who record on their respective labels. Their mission: coming together to fill the spaces between the Electro, Techno and good old fashioned UK Hardcore.

Encompassing the sounds and all important ethos of the golden era of rave, AmenTec has been making its mark over the last few years. Welcoming upstarts MOY, Bufo Bufo, Diplomat & Beagle, Fugitive, Silver Fox and Sound Synthesis to don their battle gear and reach for the lasers on this collector focused “special edition” battle series.

With the label approching its 7th release, the time is right to present a 13 track compilation of select works to celebrate their mission. “Off Ya Box – Part One” brings together label highlights and a whole bunch of exclusive cuts.

From the spatial Acid tones of Sound Synthesis to the juddering Tech-Step of Bobo, there’s no messing when it comes to the robotic Funk of Dawl, the jilted waves of Zobol, the EZ roll of Lloyd Stellar, or knockout sounds of Flatliner for that matter.

Ova Doce 'Keep On' Amen Tec Presents Off Ya Box' (Part One)

The 394th epsisode of @DarkScienceElectro is an artist highlight on English-born, Dublin-based artist @Cignol

He grew up during the 80's when Hip-Hop and Electrofunk made it's way to other side of the Atlantic and subsequently blew up. @Cignol was immediately captivated and that exposure changed the course of his life. He dove into Electronic music culture in the 90's, learned how to DJ in his bedroom and started playing out on the free party scene in the UK, which was booming at the time". Venturing into music production followed shortly thereafter, purchasing his first machines in 1995 (Juno 60 and a TR-606). After years of stumbling around with the machines he moved to Holland, bought a computer and learned how to sequence within digital audio workstations. At first, he was producing IDM/Ambient music with Acid tinges and melodic focus, however, after getting tired of producing music within a computer, he purchased some machines and started writing Electro. He told me that "The workflow of using hardware is far better for creativity in my opinion,  I love just switching the machines on and seeing what happens."

@Cignol has been active in releasing music for 10 years with his first release on Alphabet Set. He then moved on to other great labels like @computercontrolledrecords, @lunardiskorecords, @analogicalforce, @furthur_elect0nix, AC Records and most recently on the @alekstark label Fundamental Records.

Dark Science Electro presents: Cignol

Paul Hammock started making music inspired by techno, electro and the IDM of the nineties, with Plaid and the early work of Aphex Twin as his main references. In 2008 he published his first full EP through Alphabet Set, where he stayed, after publishing a full LP, until 2014, the year in which an organically developed journey through record labels like Seagrave, Lunar Disko, AC Records, Computer Controlled, Furthur Electronix, Analogical Force, Touched Electronix, Fundamental Records or Nebulae began. In the titles disseminated by these labels, Cignol has been offering a particular style in which the notorious classical rhythmic patterns –notably those of electro, but with sporadic appearances of others circumscribed to breakbeat or acid house– of equally classic drum machines are marked by a profuse use of the TB-303 and a wide range of melodic designs that, far from falling into the potential monotony of the loop, are subject to accumulation processes and formal reworking.

This podcast, the first in Dialektik's series, is defined by the exposition of what has been developed during most of his career. What can be expected? A live set consisting of a succession of pieces, either released or unreleased, which feature melodies that oscillate between different forms and moods –from melancholy to smugness, from the enigmatic to the urgent–, ubiquitous acid lines of a meticulous and sinuous sensuality, a backdrop of floating pads and mechanical basslines, all within an electro framework while still occasionally offering archetypal acid house pills. The convergence of all these elements forms a sonic identity which is stamped by a nostalgic look at the future, imagined by the musical past that defined Hammock's early days.
