We are very happy to have @reycolino presenting the latest episode of Syntop Audio! The @kalaharioystercult label boss has not only proven his great taste shaping his label's very own sound but also made some waves with his mixes lately. The mix he recorded for Syntop Audio combines uplifting trancy melodies with deep electro sounds and dreamy atmospheres. With its trippy groove the mix drags the listener into a deep, ravy hypnosis. Test subject 1.25 @allurein of the beloved @neurocrankk collective, unearths a primordial dance between the hunter and it’s prey as they weave through an aberrant, glitching biosphere. A true narrative of survival where tension rises and falls as the hunt plays out through alien flora.

“I made the visual prompt my lock screen first and foremost, so that I’d be met with it every day. Any time I was listening to music it was right there; either to remind me to be listening for certain sounds I associated with the visual, or so that the visual would be so deeply engrained in my mind that I was always listening to music with a lens directly associated with the visual. 

I developed this sort of sci-fi story, of predator and prey that I felt came as a consequence of this relationship between the lushness of the visual; and the striking contrast of the sharp, grey, almost extra-terrestrial intrusions. Notwithstanding the embarrassment factor, it helped me create a narrative that I felt the interplay of songs could tell. 

I tried to imagine the strange sounds and animals that might arise, the ups and downs of my participation: haste, fear, exhilaration, and brief moments of tranquillity. As I said, it’s pretty embarrassing, but honestly it brought the visual to life and meant when looking for music, these were all the ways I wanted it to make me feel.

For me, the mix conveyed a story of survival in this glitched-out rainforest – a strange subsection prompting the discernment of what is artificial in an environment that was seemingly so close to a rainforest here on earth.”

#107 from Berlin based, China born Carly Zeng ( @carly-zeng ). We met while I was in Berlin over the summer and after checking out some of Carly's mixes, mostly vinyl only, I was so impressed. Carly's style oozes class, with an eclectic old-school steeze, blending breaks, trance & electro effortlessly.

Carly now runs her own party in Berlin, "dissident", and plays frequently around Berlin & surrounds.

In recent times, Space Cadets have taken the scene by storm. Based in Leeds, UK, the two are quickly becoming synonymous with a modern and exciting tech/trancey style of production. Both are also residents/co-run the party/mix series @on-rotation-music

Marlon (@liseneuk) & Adam (@adampits) have pioneered a new and unique sound, inspired by elements of 90's and early 2000's tech/trance/prog and electronica but with their own signature touches and embedded with a distinctly UK vibe. With respective releases on Planet Euphorique, Banoffee Pies, X-Kalay & Holding Hands, not only are both incredibly talented producers in their own right, but this mix is proof that their ability to select and compile a compelling set is just as impressive. 

This mix is what we all need after a long 2020.
